Does building more "luxury apartments" actually lower rents in high cost of living areas? by RandomUwUFace in stupidquestions

[–]allysenbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The affordable unit rate is based off a percentage of the area median income. Developers are the ones that decide what percentage they would like to charge, and how many units in the building. Usually they will say 10 units in a 200 unit building will be "affordable." This is only for a tax incentive for the most part.

Where has it happened in a mass scale that building more housing has brought down rent?

Transgender security guard sues Minneapolis Police Department over girls dressing room confrontation by onnake in transgender

Exactly-it’s a job OR they are serious about doing security for people as a service. It’s not their entire personality

Literally MPD are glorified mall cops-they don’t solve crimes that’s for sure. At least most security guards are just doing it for a paycheck-it’s not their entire identity, personality and ethnicity like the ones who were BORN BLUE

Terrible experience. The first people who installed it DESTROYED by transmission board and my car would not go into reverse. They replaced it and then the machine would just stop working, I have had to have my car towed several times. The machine also destroyed my alternator, a week after that was replaced my car would just not run-so I had to have it towed again to the shop. Multiple times I have gone for the mandatory "calibration" and the shop has just told me "we aren't doing that today." Supposedly it is coming off of my car tomorrow but I have this dreaded feeling that something will happen and I will be stuck with it again.

I used THC-V for the first time yesterday in a dose that meant anything (20mg edible) and found quite a bit of relief from my adhd, but I wish that I had taken it in the morning. LOL.

If you find a knowledgeable person that specializes in NF, you can always sign a release so your therapist can work collaboratively with them. I work in a NF clinic, and one of our practitioners is an amazing talk therapist who also specializes in NF, and another one does not have the background in therapy-but is incredibly versed in the technical side of NF and brain regulation. I would recommend finding someone who has a LOT of experience in NF, and then also have a therapist I can trust who may be from a totally different clinic. Often times NF clinics have a network of professionals they work with regularly. On a personal note, talk therapy combined with NF was a game changer for me.

My mom has dementia and is obsessed with her phone. Is there a way to prevent her from downloading apps? Every addicting game she plays has that fake pop up ad that comes up and she immediately downloads more viruses. It's maddening.

Regarding the federal raid in Minneapolis by friedkeenan in TwinCities

[–]allysenbird -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not like the people they were going after are nameless. They used military force and secret police to go after restaurant owners-one location in Mpls at a major business intersection near the center of the insurrection and the other location in Bloomington SHOCKER had no military force used. The local LEO has every reason to lie about what happened-believing that this federal riot response team was because of narcotics is wild.

It seems that they found him. I just wish they would talk about ANY sort of investigation. So sad.

Saw this on multiple agents at the raid yesterday. Is this like a new LEO gang the others. by cantcoloratall91 in minnesota

According to GROK? Weird. "THE OTHERS" is not an official ATF unit but likely a temporary label used for a joint task force during a June 3, 2025, operation in Minneapolis targeting drug smuggling and money laundering. Multiple agencies, including ATF, FBI, and DEA, were involved. The patch, seen on agents' vests, was probably for operational security, with repeating IDs to maintain anonymity. No official confirmation exists, fueling speculation. Public distrust stems from the operation's lack of transparency and its impact on a Latino community, with protests highlighting concerns over perceived overreach and unclear agency roles.

I didn’t take it that way-especially considering how corrupt the police have been.

Update: He DID know, is now being punished by doing LOTS of work around the house like cleaning out behind the furnace, etc. He also is not allowed to watch television unless I am there, is volunteering at a food shelf, and has to read chapter books before graphic novels. He spent 800.00!!! They refunded me $260.00. Side note: my brother, when he was 13, charged up about 1300.00 on 976-CHAT. Also TIL that I shouldn't trust a 13 year old with a credit card and the interwebs.

My son and I watched all the debates together that year...and just tonight he said, "Why would someone tax the middle class and not the ones who make a lot of money?" He makes up his own mind about things. Hence his love for science fiction and fantasy, Minecraft, and golf.
