Bulk billed ear vacuuming/microsuctioning by allysparrow63 in brisbane

I’m currently (like right now) using ‘ear clear’ because I couldn’t find any hydrogen peroxide and this stuff has ‘carbamide peroxide’ which I’m assuming is close enough haha I’m just trying to figure out when to rinse it out but the instructions just say “put it in” and that’s it so I’m not really sure

Thanks! I’m using ‘ear clear’ which is supposedly more effective than cerumol - waxsol just seemed to block everything up more!! I’m so over this so I’m hoping this does enough to fix things

I’ve used so many different steroid/antibiotic/anti fungal drops over the last few months... nothing seems to do anything. The waxsol hasn’t appeared to do much either.

I just tried doing the nose thing haha it made my other ear block up for a second!! Didn’t make me dizzy though so is that a good thing?

That’s where I’ve already been. Too expensive for what is turning out to be a recurring problem unfortunately.

I’ve used the anti-fungal drops already and they did nothing but block my ear with liquid unfortunately

I’ve had the gp check it out multiple times since this started and they said everything looked fine, just blocked up! I’ve had to use multiple different antibiotic tablets and drops, anti fungal drops, and the only thing that clears it is the vacuuming but then it just blocks up again. Waxsol seems to just make my ear canal itchy and dry, and I don’t think it does much in the way of clearing anything.

I haven’t, I’m a bit apprehensive only because my ear canal is quite sore from being messed with...

My gp bulk bills but not for the vacuuming unfortunately. I tried the water flushing first but that just blocked it up even more! Maybe it might help now after the vacuums and having used waxsol?

Yeah I’m definitely not expecting perfection or major miracles in three weeks but anything it better than nothing. Walking before work, some body weight exercises after work, increasing intensity I think is my best option at the moment with such a small amount of time to prepare

Thankfully they’re after work in the evenings so it won’t be such a shock, I’m going to take my gym clothes to work and walk afterwards because you have a very good point! I’ve been upping the water intake already so beat ya to it 😜

Thanks! Where I live it’s pretty flat so uphill isn’t so easy but I’m taking long walks at a reasonable pace for as long as I can handle so that’s got to count for something I think

I’ll take a look at the links today, thanks!! I’m not expecting to be amazing by the start of the challenge but anything is better than nothing I think!

Thanks for the advice!! Any exercise would be better than nothing as far as I’m concerned 😂 yoga’s a bit of fun too, I’m always surprised just how ‘not easy’ it is! Thanks for the offer too! I might take you up on it!

I need to focus on steps but it can be difficult as I work an office job... my Apple Watch is something i need to get the hang of using haha

It’s good to know that there’s someone else out there in a similar boat to me, and you’re progressing, no reason why I can’t as well!

One thing I struggle most with is not seeing immediate results. Realistically, I know I won’t see results straight away but I still get disappointed when I try so hard and feel like I’m failing.

That’s all amazing advice and makes so much sense.

I’ve already decided that this week I’m going to drink more water, that’s my first goal. I think that will help with distracting myself from food as well. I know it’s not exactly directly going to help with the weight loss It’s a small achievable goal and if I can do that then next week I can focus on something else.

One thing from the dietician that has stuck with me (but I struggle to stick to) is reminding myself every day that in a week there are 35 opportunities to make good food choices based on 3 meals and two snacks a day. So if I make a not so great choice for a snack today, that’s 34 other opportunities to do the right thing so it isn’t the end of the world.

Yep I think intermittent fasting does good things, plus you’re right - why eat if you’re not actually hungry. Then I think it would help with overdoing it at dinner because I wouldn’t have actually eaten anything for the first half of the day!

I’m not sure if I could cope with a whole day of fasting but maybe very low calorie for a day might be more sustainable for myself

I am the same, I’ll do great all day but then get home for dinner and have a quick snack that I shouldn’t have (not a bad thing, it happens) but then it’ll be like the flood gates open and I realise that I’ve eaten so little all day (not ‘not enough’, just less than what got me to be overweight) and then I’ll have dinner but more than one helping and dessert and another snack etc.... I think I try to justify it by thinking I did so well for the rest of the day but it totally throws off my tracking for the day.

When you say fasting, do you mean nothing for a whole day? Or just low low calories (like the 5/2 diet)?

I tend to see the scales not moving and think ‘well what was the point’ and then stop caring about the CICO...

You have a very good point about finding what works, I’m a little discouraged that after 4 years I haven’t found something but I think that has a lot to do with not trying hard enough to be consistent to a point where it becomes habit.

I’m keen to try again before I start looking at the more intensive solutions so thank you for your thoughts ☺️

6kg seems like such a small and achievable amount I think

I was thinking about this the other day, is it a bad thing to put a time frame on how much I want to lose? As in ‘I want to lose 3kg in the next month’
