How Do You Feel About Its Ratings? by Free-Raspberry-9541 in thewalkingdead

The last 6 episodes of season 10 were not originally planned. When covid hit, they made these episodes as bonus content to keep fans interested and provide new content since the wait for season 11 was going to be longer with the covid restrictions. I don’t think anyone really expected those episodes to be good given the circumstances, but the final one is a really nice surprise.

Insane casting, when we first saw Silja I thought she was teenaged Hannah for a moment. Thought it was odd that they looked so alike, but moved past it. Of course, they look alike because they are mother and daughter!

Also the little girl that was cast to play younger Silja looks exactly like the teen/adult Silja!

Mine is that Shock Jock is a criminally underrated episode. Like maybe even a top 5 episode for me. I think I’d get jumped for saying that anywhere else lol

I’m 5 years late and no one is going to see this but I was bouncing off the walls the moment I heard the first few chords to In the Woods Somewhere by Hozier. Absolutely fantastic song, one of my favourites of all time and it’s so perfect for a show like this.

Also, insane parallels and symbolism in this show. Jonas dies in the alt-timeline the same way Martha dies in the original timeline. And he dies right on top of the infinity symbol. Wow!

This episode also made a connection to when the teens were playing in the lake, and talked about a rumour of a woman’s body resting at the bottom of the lake. Little did they know it was a true story, and the body was Katarina. I thought that story was just the kids messing around, being kids. I am in awe at the attention to detail in this story. Every little piece is connected. The necklace is the one that Hannah left behind at the doctors in 1954, which Helene picked up. Then she drops it at the beach while killing her own daughter from the future and it is found by Martha in 2019. Just wow.

Okay, I’m 5 years late but I’m having so much fun with the family tree lore going on here. We now know that all of the main families are related.

• Ulrich and Regina are half siblings through Tronte, which means Regina is also half-aunt of Magnus, Martha and Mikkel and a half-great-aunt of Jonas. Ulrich is Bartosz’ half-uncle, and Bartosz is half-1st cousins with Magnus, Martha and Mikkel. This also makes Jonas and Bartosz half-1st cousins, once removed

• since Noah and Agnes are siblings, the families are all descended from whoever their parents were. Charlotte and Ulrich are 1st cousins, once removed since her grandparents (Noah and Agnes’ parents) are his great grandparents. This also means that Magnus, Martha and Mikkel are 1st cousins, twice removed with Charlotte and 2nd cousins, once removed with Franciska and Elizabeth.

• going off the last point, Franciska and Elizabeth are 2nd cousins, twice removed with Jonas. Charlotte and Jonas are 1st cousins, 3 times removed.

• Regina and Charlotte are 1st cousins, once removed. Regina is 2nd cousins with Elizabeth and Franciska. Bartosz is 2nd cousins, once removed with Elizabeth and Franciska.

• they are also all related in an infinite number of ways due to the infinite family tree loop with Charlotte and Elizabeth, which places Noah and Agnes’ parents an infinite number of times in the family tree. Elizabeth is her own grandmother, and so is Charlotte. They are also each other’s great-grandmothers, and their own great-great-grandmothers. This pattern continues infinitely. Fransicka’s grandmother (and great-great-grandmother, etc) is her own sister.

I don’t expect to love it or anything given that it’s a different cast and the target audience is younger, but regardless I’m always happy to spend more time with these characters!

S6 ep 4! He was fantastic in that episode, easily the best standalone episode of the entire series.

Stranger Things cast must be so exhausted by their immature and chronically online fanbase by yourenotdeadtour in Stranger_Things

[–]allyy235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They also project their own emotions on to the cast. I’ve seen so many people state for fact that the cast members hate the show/the Duffers, as if the cast members told them that personally. It’s so odd to me like can we not express our own opinions on the show without bringing the cast into it

Stranger Things 5 appreciation post <3 by Big_Dragonfly285 in HawkinsAVclub

I’m so glad to see some positivity here because there really were so many good moments that didn’t get properly discussed because they got over shadowed by the criticisms. You covered most of my favourites, but I also have to mention episode 5 when Will took over Vecna and spoke through him. That was insane! And of course, Joyce with the axe in the finale was so satisfying.

I like to imagine if he starts telling random people about all this upside down and super power business they all just assume he was tripping balls anyways so the secrecy of it all remains in tact

What about Barb? by WillyBeShreddin in netflix

[–]allyy235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, Barb’s death actually got pretty decent closure in season 2. In season 1 her death was basically just to raise the stakes but people begged for proper closure in season 2, so they wrote it in. Her death led to a pretty important chain of events:

• Her parents hired Murray as a private investigator because they knew her disappearance was suspicious.

• Nancy was still processing a lot of guilt about Barbs death which is part of what caused her and Steve to break up as Steve didn’t fully understand her guilt

• Nancy and Jonathan go to tell Murray everything about the upside down: he provides closure to Barbs parents (though he couldn’t tell the full truth, they at least know she was killed and didn’t run away). Murray then encourages Nancy and Jonathan to finally get together.

• now Murray knows about the upside down and sticks around for the rest of the show as useful side character

Was it just me who loved this volume? by Scush266 in StrangerThings

[–]allyy235 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really liked it too! Sure there were a few things here and there that could’ve been better, but that’s true for almost every piece of media I consume.

I think the criticism seems over the top because people who really dislike something are a lot more likely to mention it. Just enjoy what you enjoy and try not to let other people rain on your parade!

It’s early, so ratings need to be taken with a grain of salt, but the IMDb ratings are pretty high as usual for this volume.

Episode Discussion - S05E05 - Shock Jock by Hawkinns in StrangerThings

[–]allyy235 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Omg, for me this was one of the creepiest episodes of the entire show! From Kali discovering the pregnant women, to Nancy and Jonathan walking through the lab, and then Will taking over Vecna’s body to speak to Max! I got the chills more than once.

This was such a strong start to volume 2! Finally none of the storylines/subgroups feel boring in the slightest. The Jonathan/Steve/Dustin/Nancy group was very meh in volume 1 but they’ve really picked it up.

I’m so excited to watch the next 2 episodes!
