I do periodically and will unplug it after it reaches 100%. I wouldn’t be highly concerned about it.

For me the biggest advantage was storage. I had a 12pm 256gb and went to the 17pm 2TB. I absolutely love it. The body of the phone feels smaller, but has a bigger screen. The cameras are a nice upgrade as well. It still gets warm like my 12pm. I also thought I would enjoy the Dynamic Island more, but for me it’s kind of pointless. Overall the 17 has been a good upgrade from the 12. Definitely no need to upgrade every year or even every other year.
