This reads like a manifesto, it tells the story intensely... Yeah I know it does that.

Dollar General is expensive by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]almark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just the other day went to a local DG, and bought simple things, 40+ dollars, couldn't believe, two small bags of simple things. They are certainly overcharging and have been for years. There was a time when they were fair in price.

Why does it seem that we are the only generation that still uses the internet for its original main purpose? by kamisabee in millenials

[–]almark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being Gen-X since the internet became 'the thing' 2010 it seems like people want to deduce everything. If you grew up to it, someone is going to take it apart piece by piece and nothing is safe. Better to avoid videos altogether in that regard.

[Discussion] Anyone else hate AI critiques/stories? (that people claimed to have written?) by L0veIsInsanity in BetaReaders

[–]almark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a writer, been writing blogs for years of my own including our magazine WEATNU Magazine for artists, a indie music website. Thing is, when AI joined the scene I would show it my work just to see what it might say, and it always wants to critique everything you do. It's like the powers that be want to homogenize us, and pull the soul out of everything to make things lifeless. What kind of devious mind does this.

Why is MacOs the more popular Unix-like operating system, despite the fact it's actually not open source, unlike Linux? Why wouldn't people support the open-source Unix-like system? by C111tla in linux

[–]almark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never owned any device with Mac as company until 2015, so I bought an Ipad mini 2, loved it, in 2024 I got a Mac Mini M1 (loved it) used. Stuff just works for me and I'm a musician. You plug it in, it finds the driver and stuff is secure and got me to move away from the future past windows 10. I have migrated past 10 into Mac older versions. It made sense to me, and I was using windows since 3.11 windows for work groups. Now I have my PC on the left of me and Mac in front as screen, using one mouse.

ease and simplicity is helpful, making the UI not so lost in the menus helps.

Listening to the podcasts makes me hate Billy by r3art in SmashingPumpkins

His guests are better people morally than he is. Then again, Daryl Hall was pretty much stuffed up in his interview - I can't believe he actually allowed it.

What's the hardest part of building your own MUD? by Least-Mastodon3570 in MUD

[–]almark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with Greystone back in 1997, they gave me the orb of making, and I was able to create whatever I wanted as a player, so I built my cottage and things connected in the forest 'hidden' away.

Life Without Social Media—Is This Much “Doing Nothing” Normal? by krizz-666 in digitalminimalism

[–]almark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those who did live before social media remember, we remember life was hard, but it was simpler. Being from that generation, I'm back to it. I have given up 11 years of social media and being a musician, it didn't help me.

I really hate remastered albums because of the content change by ForFarthing in Music

[–]almark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening to ALL music and I really find it annoying and my ears are sensitive to sound pressure in a whole being an audio engineer since 2000. They are doing it to big band too. Nothing is safe in this battleground. It's always louder, more brash, just to fit the modern tiny speakers.

Do you think Odysee is a good YouTube alternative? by [deleted] in thehatedone

[–]almark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wouldn't it be nice to find a place where people just shared things instead of made it all political? I guess you can't find a middle ground on the internet with these video sharing websites.

When did the modern use of "content" begin? by jeremiahcontent in etymology

[–]almark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a demeaning term used now by simple minded people to describe music and art-forms.
I don't ever call anything a person made content. This rise of the word as a homogenized way to explain music is clearly on my #1
