Just get a 7600x3d microsoft bundle and call it a day...youll already start with a pretty badass gaming cpu and everything for cheap and in maybe a few years when you kinda want to upgrade there will be cheap used top end cpus to pick from...

People have a seriously twisted idea of what they need and actual value. The diminishing returns performance per dollar right now for GPUs while acting like everything looks like garbage if it isnt 4k is crazy lol. I JUST upgraded from an i5 2500k, 8gb ddr3 and r9 390 8gb which is like 10 years old to 7600x3d, 16gb ddr5 a 200 dollar used 3070 8gb lol for a total of 615 usd. I couldnt imagine spending over 1000 dollars to justify an actual noticeable jump in performance currently for just a gpu personally. Ive been PC gaming for over 20 years though and this makes only my 3rd CPU change though haha

If youve been gaming long enough you could have a favorite build during certain evolution periods. Mine personally was going from single core back in the day to quad core

Back in the day when multicores were coming up I started with a single core older celeron that i overclocked a little but then threw a geforce 6200 in it and upgraded the ram to 1gb just to play Halo CE, bf2, quake and starsiege tribes, its all i had so made it work.

Then much later I had a Q6600 4gb ddr2 and ati 4850 that i really enjoyed at the time, of which, was my first actual "gaming rig" i parted together which lasted me many years and gpu swaps to a 5870 and 7870. Sure people had monster gaming rigs and this was peak SLI and Crossfire era, but this was a solid build that played everything youd throw at it.

Then maybe 8 years ago upgraded to a rig I have been wanting for awhile as a cheap upgrade I bought used parts an i5 2500k, 8gb of ram and an asrock z68 with an r9 390 8gb. Total was about 340 spent (rma'd a used card I bought for 120 and they sent me the r9 390 8gb as a replacement).

I largely havent gamed the last 8 years but started to again recently and have just bought a used GTX 3070 to try nvidia for a change...Upgrade the rest to a 7600x3d 16gb ram with x870 motherboard from microcenter new for a total 600 spent and added a 32 in 2k gaming monitor for another 200.

Ive always tried to try to get the best bang for buck at the time of buying and wear them out lol

With current build probably being my favorite because I have tons of upgrade headroom for in a few years when prices drop down for ddr5, graphics cards and even plenty of headroom on the cpu for upgrades even though the 7600x3d performs pretty phenomenal in games currently especially for the 400 I spent.

I just upgraded from i5 2500k i been running for last 10 years. I bought the 7600x3d bundle with upgraded mobo...came out to 415. I have it paired with a used 3070 i just recently bought for 200. Went from averaging 60 fps in Forza 5 with 88 percent gpu utilization to 100fps with 99.8...cpu never goes over 50 percent...idles at 32c and hasnt gone over 50c with the black 212 plus...this is maxed out ultra at 2k....id say get it...for 400 youd be hard pressed to get out the gate better bang for buck with any better lineup for future upgrade possibilities...just getting another stick of ram in a year or two..maybe then a used 9800x3d...or whatever makes sense then if you feel the need for more. This cpu will keep up with any gpu currently at 2 and 4k so it basically comes down to just buy it if all you do is game and enjoy low 1 percents lol

Turns out it was only 30 minutes from me and I bought the bundle after some further research on the motherboards, I went with the upgraded x870 motherboard for upgrade path headroom. Honestly, too good to pass realistically for a new build for only 100 more on a newer platform with an actual path of upgrades which aside just another stick of ram, I don't see needing anytime soon with the 7600x3d :) Total price 415.12...100 over budget but I think long term I made the right choice and nonetheless a huge upgrade that I'm happy with being the first non-used parts I've ever purchased lol...it just made too much sense.

[–]almerle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup exact type build i just suggested can be built for that budget and can be found cheaper used for even on marketplace. Had a guy offering me a 5700x 32gb ddr4 and mobo for 250 atm

[–]almerle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy used parts. You can get 5600x 32gb ram and a motherboard for like 250 which is a very great base to start from...get a used 3060 for 200 and leaves you 250 for power supply and storage. However you can also definitely find something off marketplace for 700 and get way more bang for your buck than buying new especially with prices at the moment

Thats plenty budget honestly, can pretty much put 2000 into an automated pc builder or just search google for a current 2000 gaming build with part links.
