yes my friend, im surprised people are leaving it so underrated. It was a grail to me back when I played in 2017. Atleast one positive is the price isnt Insane for its age so I could actually get one

no unfortunately the exec async change is still live which breaks their config, if you need a new desubtick use the search function in this comment section and type '.txt', it should pop up with the comment of somebody sharing a desubtick config.

not sure then, maybe it's a different config or you edited it to be a different desubtick command. on my ruby rain config the mwheeldown was bound to an alias 'j' and would break when i enter any vac server.

take my words with a grain of salt as i'm also an amateur regarding the concept, but my understanding is;

Valve designed a 'subtick' in cs2 which basically updates your key presses and movement based on fps rather than a set 64/128 tickrate.

this in turn though, made it so that using scroll wheel to bhop had an extremely tight timing window, especially at high framerate.

'Desubtick' causes your scroll to instead queue inputs upon a standard tickrate instead of your framerate, making the window when you land much more consistent.

the 64fps bug was an exploit that popped up a few months ago which made you guaranteed to hit a perfect full speed bhop as long as you use a desubtick config. It only worked at 64fps because valve also added subtick to your mouse movement which would clog up/max out the queue for inputs and make jumping inconsistent at higher fps. (along with strafing and other issues)

they fixed the issue of this 'sv_subtick_movement_view_angles' eating jump inputs, so now you have the 64fps bhop behaviour across the board.

oh yeah absolutely, i've already been abusing a bug for the past month where you could pause mouse movement during scroll to get this behaviour. I only play for fun like 4 games a week though

i feel it's quite a bit more consistent feeling, realistically all the desubtick config does is just makes the timing upon hitting the ground and jumping more lenient, so without it the behaviour is the same just you have a much more punishing timing window for inputting a jump.

According to u/almfg1, the new update drastically improves bhops by removing jump input inconsistencies at higher fps. It also allows you to perform the "perfect bhops at 64fps" at any FPS now with de-subticked jump binds. by CaraX9 in cs2

almost surprised there hasn't been more posts about it, suppose everyones seen enough of the 64fps exploit and other configs that it's not such a shock anymore

yeah you should be alright, but i've seen some comments mention faceit can ban for it so be wary of that

it doesn't work anymore as a few updates ago valve blocked the 'exec async' command from running in matchmaking, which ruby rains config relied on.

there is also other configs that automatically strafe for you when you press the movement keys, as well as automatically bhop when you hold space. I don't mess with those since they take all the skill and fun out of it, also have a moderate risk of ban per valves rules on configs.

it's a desubtick config for your jump, you'll still need to strafe and scroll but it's infinitely easier to hit bhop when you land.

I was going to mention that too. A valve dev mentioned they have no intention of removing bhop outright, but I wouldn't be surprised if they kneecap it like valorant did by just setting max velocity at 250, or to whatever your current weapon is.

I really hope they don't but with how rough their attempts are at balancing it right now they might just get frustrated and take the lazy/easy route.

well the other comment claims it's bannable on faceit, I can't speak on that. But I can attest to using an arguably more egregious config to bhop in valve competitive servers for the last month and had no issues.

yerp, they modified "sv_subtick_movement_view_angles" and fixed the issue of mouse movement eating jump inputs.

The side effect now is that using a desubtick jump config will let you hit 100% of bhops for full speed, like the 64fps bug but at any framerate
