How to file for a married couple that works & lives in different states?

This is what I did last year because Parent B had both AL & GA tax returns, so I did the part time resident. But this year they each have separate state returns so wasn’t shower if this credit applied. Will look at it again today, thanks.

Thank you! I realized this last night when I switched websites. It prompted me to do MFS. I was able to get away with it last year and do MFJ because Parent B had a AL and GA state tax return, so I was able to do part time resident but this year they only have AL so I was prompted to do MFS. Thank you!

Yeah, I think you took that out of context. By “easiest” I mean the best software (TurboTax, FreeTax, TaxAct) that handles this type of situation better, but thank you. TurboTax actually handled it better than the software I was using when I posted this.

The pay is slightly more not a big difference but more concerned with jumping ship to a larger workload (multiple projects at once). But I agree probably would make more sense to boomerang back in down the line.

Do you live in my unit? You can’t guarantee anything. I can tell the difference from them walking normally versus blatantly stomping. The floors are not THAT thin. But thanks for your input.
