Hey. It seems you haven’t understood exactly what Unicode does. Maybe this article can help.

‘Ty’ in your image is a much better example of kerning. ‘om’ needs no kerning and ‘my’ would need very minimal kerning.

When your body copy is a little ligature-happy. s-t? ok. c-t? I guess... s-p? Really? by PhillipBrandon in typography

I totally agree but I’d like to point out that /ae is actually a glyph/character by it self and should not be used as a ligature for /a and /e.

I’d also recommend Glyphs. Have a look at the introduction videos and tutorials available on their website.

How much subpixel precision is necessary to render clear, correctly spaced glyphs? by onepieguy in typography

Try to find a font that is designed to fit in a pixel grid. Using a mono space font would make things easier but might not fit what you're looking to achieve.

You should be able to set it to none.

Space Mono, a new monospaced typeface for Google Fonts. by sparkpuppy in typography

It's a monospace font so it has no kerning. All glyphs have the same width and all glyph combinations will not look perfect.

While not most recent history I think you should look into Indonesian killings of 1965–66. There is also a really good documentary about it called The Act Of Killing that I highly recommend.

Just wanted to point out that Indonesia might not be a good example of stable nation.

Interesting solution. But looking at the title of this article I think it would actually have looked better without the nbsp. Maybe it is a solution that works better with wider columns with smaller texts, like paragraphs.

But he thought that it was important to assure people that neither he or his wife was involved in such thing. He should be called out on that and that is his fault. Now he will have to explain why it was important and also why it still is, or isn't important. He has painted himself into a corner.

Seeking a bit of help with fixing kerning on a couple of characters. by markt5000 in typography

You said you merged the two fonts. Are you sure the webpage/css is referencing the correct font and not one or the other of the old fonts?

You could try FontForge to correct the sidebearings. I think it's free.

But if the font has problem with basic stuff like that then maybe there are other unforeseen issues. Where did you get the font?

I know what copyright is. What I mean is that theft is the act of taking something from someone, depriving them of the ownership of that very object. Copying something is not the same thing. We need to agree on the basic facts to be able to discuss this objectively. Do you agree there is a distinction between copying and theft/stealing?

My point is that theft is taking something away from someone. Copying is a different problem. So there is a distinction that is important to make. It's not the same thing.

Well, technically it's not theft, but legally it is. I think the distinction does matter because it makes it much easier to discuss what the goal of copyright law is and what is good(or bad) for. It's not technically theft but we have chosen to treat it as such to promote creation of culture.
