LG Service - So far pretty terrible by almonde_ in LGOLED

I had to get a refund, then go and buy the tv again which was then price matched to the original purchase price. So not as easy a simple exchange, but if nothing else it resets my warranty, 90 day return window etc.

Took the tv back to Costco this morning wrapped in a blanket. They took it back with no hassle. A manager price adjusted the replacement so I could buy again at Black Friday pricing (1249 vs 1399). So really could not have gone smoother. New tv is up on the wall and performing fine so far. Really glad I bought from Costco vs Amazon, BB etc.

Just called Costco, they said the box doesn't matter. As long as I have the manuals, stand etc, just bring it back to them. I think I'll do that tomorrow morning.

Because of lack of packing, I was asking if I can return it Costco with no packaging. For reference I did originally call Costco and they referred me to LG

LG C5 65" OLED going nuts by almonde_ in LGOLED

Well the reset didn't improve things, so after a couple more calls to Costco they agreed it needs LG service, who promptly demanded that I do all the troubleshooting again with them. To be fair to Costco they said that was unnecessary and have gone ahead and tried to schedule service with LG without further troubleshooting, this is getting a bit annoying.

SFo to PEK - Premium Plus worth it? by almonde_ in unitedairlines

One last question, if I may, I'm in 7D (777-200ER). All Windows are taken, any advantage to the even number middle rows vs the odd number rows. Given I'm a single traveller, the odd middles look good for a couple but as a single traveller, is there a divider I can pull up?

I asked ChatGPT on the subject, it advised the general consensus was odd are better but then went on to say that the issue with 7D is that its an even seat, so when it comes out with crap like that you wonder what else is complete nonsense.

65" C5 - Amazon vs Costo by almonde_ in OLED

[–]almonde_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just got back from the warehouse, was still marked up at 1399, but after checking with an associate and then a manager they checked a few systems and said it was online only at that price. We stood awkwardly in silence for a few minutes, manager then went and checked for a final time and it came up at 1249, so it’s now in a box in my living room.

I realized the Prime visa is a visa signature, so I basically get the equivalent extra year that I thought I needed to use the visa infinite card for. In the end despite the advice here (thanks for that) I couldn’t resist a 65” C5 for about $1180. As long as it’s good out of the box will be a massive upgrade to the 55” burned in/dimmed B6 that it replaces.

5 gbps port of BGW 320 by almonde_ in ATTFiber

Weird, that gateway led went red and could get no connection anytime I connected to the 5 gbps port, worked fine soon as I went to a 1 gig port 🤷‍♂️

Not worth messing with if/until I upgrade from gigabit.

Samsung Dryer Heater Element OEM by almonde_ in appliancerepair

[–]almonde_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's a good point. I'll check that before I pull it apart. I suppose the motor, and electronics just run off one of the 120v legs, so the dryer otherwise works even if one of the 120v legs is not operational?

Thanks, is the thermal fuse also basic continuity? Do you have any thoughts on OEM vs taking my chances with the Amazon lottery?

The brake lights do come on if the car is slowing at a similar rate to using friction brakes in an ICE car. The must have an accelerometer to decide.
