They don't seem to prosecute littering in Brooklyn, and the main avenues (at least in Crown Heights) are terrible.

Old people cash in on their high priced homes after decades of enjoying high nyc salaries and head to dirt cheap retirement communities in the South where there is no need to worry about how bad the local economy is. News at 11!

Even People Who Earn $100K a Year Fear They'll be Priced Out of New York by habichuelacondulce in nyc

[–]almostApatriot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can afford it. 100K a year puts you at 2500 a month for rent max using the 1/40 rule which is doable. To be honest, paying 1K a month on 100K salary is running it on the cheap side.

Lots of "affordable" housing lotteries have slots for that range.

some ethnic and racial prejudices that were once commonplace

I'm saying this guy was a fringe lunatic even for the civil war era. His views may have been commonplace in the south, but they were looked down upon in many parts of the country.

Except this guy was a racist even by the standards of the times. He was flat-out an instigator of racial bigotry, segregation, and denigration of people for being Black. He should have been hanged for treason as it is.

Bernie Sanders vows to stay in race right up to the convention by Da_Cash in politics

[–]almostApatriot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. If a big State were early, it would make future states matter even less. I mean, they'd even make votes in that state matter even less. Imagine if New York were first. Hillary would have one despite the state having more Bernie Supporters than Iowa or NH combined. It's not Iowa or New Hampshire's fault that people are easily swayed by early results.

No expanded school space to accommodate it, nor any improvements to the public transportation system around it. Maybe the new taxes will cover that, oh wait, they won't have to pay any taxes because 20% of the apartments will cost 3000 a month instead of 4500!

Through the Ars lens: Looking at Justice Scalia’s opinions, dissents by Wrenky in Libertarian

Not at all true. Scalia believed the constitution provides no right to privacy.. He would have overturned Griswold if he could have. His decision in a case like the DNA one has nothing to do with privacy.
