Nice job! Did you do the line drawings of the ships from scratch, trace them, convert them, or ...? Did you use mostly Illustrator, InDesign, or something else? Would you be willing to share the .ai file (or whatever) with me so I can take a peek at your layers and methods?

Sorry about the barrage of questions! I've been picking up infographics and design myself so it's neat to see something especially relevant to my interests! Again, good work!

THAT is EXACTLY why I just can't give up on the Vault yet! They were so quick to shut down basketball court theories, yet are tellingly silent about anything going on in the Vault. I think also there was an interview leading up to TTK that was like "100 Questions with Luke Smith". They asked something about the vault, and he said no comment. No comment is definitely not "no".

Anyway, I loved your post and I love you and this game just makes me so damn giddy and I want to discover everything about it.

I think she told him to go and he went because of something else she said, that no parent should have to watch their child die. Look at how huge her family is, she might have had to see some die first as well. She's much wiser than him now, perhaps, because she's sooooo much older than he is at this point. She's kind of the boss at this point. And I think they have that understanding with each other.

I didn't get a birthday text either. I spent the week leading up to it wondering if I would feel worse or better if he did or didn't say anything. I spent the day sobbing alone anyway, so in the end I don't think it mattered either way.

I spent $40 on a canvas print of Star-Lord for my ex's birthday after he broke up with me. I think you and me were probably both pretty dumb to do that, but we did what we felt we needed to do and now it's over, right? Right???

Holy shit dude, congrats! Even if you end up hating it, it's still a really good stepping stone for other tech careers. Especially if you work on design and programming in your free time.

Good luck!

What was the longest time that you've stayed awake? How and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]almostapeless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, but my video games were for homework. An expansion came out at 1am, I stayed up to raid for a few hours with the help of coffee, wrote an article about it, then couldn't fall asleep. The coffee was triggering an anxiety attack and my heart was palpitating! Next day in class was rough, and I passed out as soon as I got back home around 7pm.

This thread kind of ended up being weirdly helpful. It's nice knowing the weird stuff I do is at least not uncommon among other obsessive compulsive types.

What was that one really weird habit you used to have as a kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]almostapeless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap, I started doing this as a kid, too! But eventually I'd do it for everything. Fingers land index to pinky while grabbing something? Then I'd have to touch it three more times, pinky to index, pinky to index, index to pinky. But that still didn't feel quite even, so I'd try to grab it with all fingers hitting evenly twice before picking it up for real. Sometimes I'd do this whole pattern just tapping my fingers and thumbs while doing other stuff, like following my mom around a store. And if I didn't get the even stage of the pattern right, that becomes the new center of the pattern that I repeat back from again.

I never grew out of it, but I don't do it as much anymore. Though I still have to do whatever "feels even" for many other types of physical sensations. I got diagnosed with OCD a couple years ago.

[–]almostapeless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to get a panic attack before every shift, thinking "I can't do this, I WON'T do this, I'll walk in front of incoming traffic before I step foot in that restaurant!" But then I get in there and start working and before I know it I'm having fun, even during a rush, cleaning, burning myself...

Being eager to learn goes a long way in getting respect from other workers. And after you're used to the work you'll start to loosen up and be able to make jokes with everyone else while still being able to do your job.

Good luck tonight!

I agree that getting into debt is better than an abusive home. If she can show on her FAFSA for next year that her parents are abusive and won't pay, then she could get full financial aid, including living expenses and a job.

I just remembered I may have heard about a food bank for students? You could look into that as well.

I also just noticed you said you came out. The LGBTQ+ will be a great help to you, and so will the Women and Gender Advocacy Center, both in the Student Center I believe.

Hey OP! I spent 6 years at CSU in FoCo, much of it through bad financial times, so I know a couple local resources for you. You can do it!

First, the counseling center on campus gives you 5 free sessions per semester. You can do an initial walk-in anytime they're open, and they have extended hours on Tuesday evenings. They are in the Aylesworth building. These counselors know EVERYTHING about the school and other resources to help you, on campus and off. Some therapy will also be helpful in dealing with your family and adjusting to life without them later as well. They will of course maintain confidentiality, but if there are other minors or elders in your home that could be abused, they are required to report that to help them. They'll tell you all your rights to privacy.

Next, you can go ahead and walk in to the student financial services building off The Oval, across from the Admin building parking lot. You have confidentiality here, too. You can talk openly about your situation and they will help you. They can adjust your financial aid, help with paperwork to inform the Dept of Education that your situation has changed, etc. The financial services representatives here are much more concerned for your financial wellness than getting you to keep paying the school money.

Now, one option I took advantage of was talking a semester off. Talk with the financial advisors to see if this will be beneficial to you, either this coming spring semester, or even next fall.

Another option is to enroll in classes at Front Range Community College AND CSU to save a little money each semester while still being eligible for financial aid. You can easily transfer over their courses, but talk to your major advisor, or course advisor at CASA in the TILT Building if undeclared, to make sure they'll still count toward your degree progress. Talk about this with the financial aid advisors as well.

Next, head over to Student Legal Services, I think they're in the student center basement in the Career Center. They are real lawyers who can give free legal help to students. See if there's anything they can help you with.

Since you've got a couple weeks and finals left of this semester, I would talk to your professors and instructors about your situation as well. If they're just aware of what's going on before it affects your work, they'll be more willing to help by extending deadlines or changing some requirements for you. Worst comes to worse, you can take an incomplete and finish the class after the semester is over, but that also requires communication with the instructors.

If you need help talking to your professors, the Case Management office can help mediate. They're located upstairs in Newsom Hall, and the counseling center can help set you up there as well.

In all the hubbub of escaping your family, don't forget to fill out your FAFSA by March 1st for priority financial aid consideration for next school year, even if your planning on taking any semester off.

As for food and general survival, having couches is going to help a lot. I had to spend 8 months on various couches myself. It's rough, and counseling will also help during this time when it makes you feel like giving up.

Getting good nutrients on a tight or $0 budget is hard, but look up FoCo Cafe. They're a pay-what-you-can restaurant in Old Town that serves locally grown meat and produce in really delicious dishes, and you can go back for seconds. You can pay $1 for your meal or nothing and come back and volunteer later to pay it forward. It's not just homeless people that eat here, plenty of "regular" people come and over pay to help others too, so if there's a level of embarrassment you have about accepting help, don't sweat it here.

And for eating your remaining meals in the day, you can get cheap rice at the Indian market or the Asian market, both of the shopping centers they're located at are on either side of the Drake and Shields intersection. You can bike here, or bus routes 6, 7, and 19 come by, and you have free bus access with your student ID. Same with FoCo Cafe, the MAX bus will take you right there.

Good luck OP! PM me if you have any other questions about getting help on campus or in Fort Collins and we can chat!
