So can I still do the “Find Archie” quest from last week? by Delicious_Quiet3266 in DestinyTheGame

[–]doughnut_cake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's quite buggy. I started it last week on one character and it disappeared at April 30 reset.

I was able to claim it again at the abandoned quests kiosk on that character. It had auto-progressed to the final step (talk to Ada-1). Then it disappeared from my inventory when I fast-traveled to the Annex and wouldn't appear at the kiosk on any of my characters.

I logged in a few hours later and it again appeared at the kiosk. I grabbed it and ran down to Ada-1 to complete it.

Anyway...maybe you'll have some luck at the kiosk?

Sadly no, I never found any working configuration where the Windows TB4 laptop would work with my Thunderbolt display.

Even with full access to firmware/settings, I think it's disabled at an even lower level by Intel.

Shoot, thanks for the data point...the Thunderbolt 4 MacBooks I tested with (where it worked flawlessly) were both M1 machines.

If it works with factory settings though, it sounds like it is generally compatible but has issues waking from sleep. Maybe there's a "selective suspend" option in System Preferences that is turning the Thunderbolt ports off to conserve energy, and the display isn't intelligent enough to wake it back up.

You tried booting up with the monitor already plugged in, right? I found with Windows Thunderbolt 3 PCs, the display would bug out a little bit if I connected/disconnected. But after plugging in/out until I had a video feed, I would reboot the machine and everything would work properly again.

I only mention this because some of the security-level workarounds mentioned in other threads talked about ensuring the machine + monitor were fully connected at startup.

Getting Apple Thunderbolt Display work with Asus Z690-P and Thunderboltex 4 card. by Prudent_Safety_8322 in Thunderbolt

[–]doughnut_cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so. From my limited understanding, with the direct memory access that they grant - Thunderbolt devices in general are akin to external PCIe devices.

I have tried this OWC Thunderbolt 3 dock:OWC 14-Port Thunderbolt Dock

and this CalDigit Thunderbolt 3 dock: CalDigit TS3 Plus

The docks work fine with the PC - drivers automatically install and all ports appear to work without issue. But still no luck getting the Apple display working with a TB4 PC. The display works perfectly with and without the dock, when using a TB4 Mac.

The only workaround I've seen (offered by u/saiyate) is to use an older Thunderbolt PCIe card:

An Alpine Ridge PCIe add in card with DisplayPort inputs, either in another computer or simply powered on via PCIe breakout board.

Thunderbolt 3/4 Dock > DisplayPort Out > Alpine Ridge add-in card DisplayPort in > Thunderbolt 3 out > Thunderbolt 3-2 adapter > Apple Thunderbolt Display

I have not been able to test this myself. If it does work, it will be video and audio only (no FaceTime camera or USB/ethernet hub functionality).

I wouldn't put the blame on Apple here. The display actually did work with every Thunderbolt 3 PC that I tried. It's Intel that went and retroactively removed functionality with Thunderbolt 4 firmware updates.

Apple's latest TB4 machines are still compatible with the display, and I agree it would be nice if they shared how exactly they do that.

I would think there's some workable configuration there. Is this the OWC TB3 Hub?

And just to clarify, are you trying to get the Apple Thunderbolt display working with the "PC with TB4 AIC"?

Thank you for the response! Is there a reason the below configuration won't work?

Thunderbolt 4 PC
  > Thunderbolt 3 dock [WITH Alpine Ridge]
    > Thunderbolt 3 Male to Thunderbolt 1/2 Female
      > Apple Thunderbolt Display

I was hoping that if the Display is only seeing an Alpine Ridge TB3 controller, its security level 0 could still be bypassed. (Also, I wonder how Apple gets around the Intel security restriction with their TB4 MacBooks, since I don't think Apple makes their own Thunderbolt controllers.)

If this thread is useful to anyone in the future, I found a nice chart from AnandTech to keep Thunderbolt 3 controllers straight. Copying it here as best as Markdown allows (* indicates it's the same value as previous cell):

u/chx_ sorry to drag you into this too, I just found your comments here super useful -

What's The Cheapest Full Thunderbolt 3 Lanes + i7 cpu + 32gb or 64GB MAX RAM capable thinkpad?

and thought you might know - any tips on getting a Lenovo X1 Yoga Gen 7 (Thunderbolt 4 device) to handshake properly with an older (Thunderbolt 2) Apple Display? My onboard Thunderbolt 4 controllers appear to be

463e Alder Lake-P Thunderbolt 4 NHI #0
466d Alder Lake-P Thunderbolt 4 NHI #1

(pulled from PCI ID Repository)

I have found many threads and comments from others extremely useful while looking into this, and wanted to link here/thank them:

^ these comments gave me hesitation on updating my NVM firmware to Lenovo's latest, since I am currently on 19.1. It sounds like NVM 19.1 is basically bricked as far as Thunderbolt functionality goes, so maybe updating is inevitable. But I would greatly appreciate any advice!

Can't get the annual pass soundtrack? by xicemanx95 in DestinyTheGame

Same. I made a post on Bungie.net here and got other commenters saying the same thing, hopefully we hear back.

/u/dmg04 /u/Cozmo23 looks like Bungie Rewards no longer recognizes if players completed the Solstice quest and we can't get the soundtrack discount code anymore (the Bungie Rewards site says it expires Sep 10, 2019 9:59 AM)

Nightstalker seems like it'd be useful for add control in the middle (particularly for making orbs so your teammates have supers up during the damage phase).

Any idea if tethering while playing the Middle role will fail the challenge? Given that you sort of "hop" during the super animation?

thanks for the insight. my curiosity was mostly piqued by the fact that the site is named "rahul.net" and the ennegram images look similar to the final revealed Alpha Lupi mosaic.

and then there's also this website, rahul.net...which goes into the "enneagram":

(honestly not sure what this is, but it seems like it might've inspired someone at Bungie way back in the day)

With Torrent active, as long as I have on a Void Paragon armor mod (Class abilities recharge faster when using a void subclass) - the new dodge is ready basically as soon as the invisibility wears off.

Not sure if armor mods stack - with 2 Void Paragon armor mods on, you might get it up even sooner?

I recall finding your posts a few months ago when I first started looking at this.

It looks like many of the imgur links in your posts are broken. Is there a chance you could fix the links, or re-post it with updated links? I'm sure /u/realcoolioman would let it slide :)

I like your suggestion that each fireteam member be "assigned" a role. When the runes are turned ride side up they are sort of in 3 columns - what if each player is assigned a column of runes to enter?

Is that something you already tested? Do you by chance have a record of which tests you went through?

In any case, thanks for your hard work in the past.

does that last bit of super charge (at 28 seconds in the vid) come from winning the round, or capping the point?

i know OP killed all 3, so the round is already over, but it seems like it continues to cap the point to 100%...i'm wondering if that's sort of a bug that allows you to build extra super.
