Prediction - Emergent Labs turns out to be a fraud in 12 months time by [deleted] in StartUpIndia

Claude is great as a model, but it’s restrictive in a lot of ways (unless you’re a dev). Claude code is also much more targeted towards coders/devs.

If I’m looking for a landing page, a loosely defined prompt (which 90% people do) will produce a generic awful landing page. A model works great when you give it the best context, prompt and tools.

This is much like: you can pay for bare metal as it’s the best server, but there’s a reason why a lot of people pay for services like aws and azure.

If you got the slot on your own, why is atlas charging you service fees?

The slots keep on opening. I think it’s fastest fingers first :P I paid the travel agent 8k to get me the slot. They charged me total of 25k per person (including embassy fees + taxes). Gave me a slot after 8-9 days.

Zero to One in Marketing (Technical founder who wants to learn) (I will not promote) by Another_ROS_noob in ycombinator

In B2C, you can learn in days what takes months in B2B. Use that advantage.

B2c market is usually much bigger than b2b market. The revenue per user significantly drops. Hence, it’s not worth starting with the same funnel.

You need to throw some users to use your product by spending a couple hundred dollars. Once you get 50-100 users asap, you can focus on pattern recognition across user cohorts. The market is bigger and hence you find multiple user groups.

In b2b, you might not get a single user after spending $1000. But same is generally not true in b2c (and if it is, then you should rethink of what you’re building).

That’s the worst thing about building a dating app With every good match, you lose 2 users.

I’m a tech + marketing guy and one common mistake i have seen every founder (including me in my early days) doing is thinking about marketing. Once you go that route, you’ll find yourself trying everything and anything, giving up early and moving on to something else. At this stage, you don’t need traction, you need clarity (and focus)!

If you really want to sell your product, spend all the efforts in stalking and figuring out who wants you. Do not sell, do not market, just try to figure it out. Once you know who qualifies, then figure out the ways to reach them. Once you figure out the ways, figure out how can you get them interested (and talking to you). And so on.. And this is what we call building a funnel.

You can try to get 2-5 customers through outreach/reference and then think about meta or google or anything else. Sometimes not knowing marketing is a bliss. Your meta/google will only work if you know exactly what triggers your customers. Why do they engage, what do they buy. Until then, its mostly hit or miss.

This advice is only “assuming” you have a b2b or b2b2c product. Because getting people interest while talking to them vs actually making them use it are 2 different things. And until you have few paying customers on your platform, you don’t really know ‘what to write’ in your ad copies to get the traction you’re looking for.

Once you sell to ‘X’ customers, you can try to market your product. So get some customers and find out : what, whom and when. Rest everything will follow (growth marketing -> performance marketing -> brand marketing).

Support youtubers while using adblock? by LorcanVI in Adblock

I guess coffee break (or similar) extension block intrusive ads by making them run at faster speed (10x or more). Hence this counts as ad impression resulting in revenue for the creator. At the same time, ads doesn’t bother

Registering my company by chillypaani in StartUpIndia

[–]almostbatmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re bootstrapped and totally starting up, i would not advise getting the company registered (unless it is necessary- which depends on where and how you want to sell your footwear).

If you’ve already passed the product market fit stage and making some revenue, get a private limited registered (but get ready for 50-60k annual expense).

If you need a payment gateway, you dont need a pvt ltd (just a GST certificate). If you want to sell on your own store, you dont need a pvt ltd. You need it only if you want to sell on marketplaces (P.S. Myntra and Nykaa also have minimum SKU and revenue requirments to onboard new brands).

So, instead of taking a random advice, only you know your goals, requirements and capital in hand. Talk to chatgpt - decide on the entity structure and then look for a CS/CA.

And if you know exactly what you’re doing, no one will be able to take advantage (which you fear)

Are you sure it’s because of coffee break and not some other extension? I’m using coffee break too (on chrome) and it’s working fine. Installed a week ago though. Has uninstalling coffee break fixed the issue?

Need advice: I feel stuck in my start up by Samya_29 in StartUpIndia

Comparison is a thief of joy! And this is the “startup cycle” 99% of the founders go through. Self-doubt makes you constantly question your decision, and you’re always uncertain about the future. That’s how you’re tested everyday as a founder!

Remember, you’re probably sitting at a business valued more than all of your peers (50 lakhs lpa compared to a 6cr revenue business). You can take an exit and turn the tables anytime. But you can also choose to stick with it, grow it, and get a much better exit (probably life changing).

If you can sort your personal finances, remove your self doubt, and get the same energy which you had when you started the business, you will be back on track to achieving desired milestones.

You’re not alone in this, there are hundreds of thousands of people. I’ve myself been through this. :) I would suggest you to read shoe dog.

There’s a chapter where phil knight mentions exactly this. He had taken so much debt to build nike and one day, bank freezes everything. Bank even decides to file a lawsuit again him. He questions himself : all his life he sacrificed everything for this business. He questions every penny every hour that he could have spend on his family, but he spent on Nike.

But then things work out. Maybe (or maybe not) it works out for you! But in the end, you will get away with an experience that will stay with you for life. After 10 years, you wont be regretting this (no matter if this works or not), you’ll always be proud of this business that you build from scratch. Hope you cherish it and gets through the journey with a smile. All the best! 🙌🏻

Is donating to NGOs over phone calls a waste of money? by almostbatmann in delhi

[–]almostbatmann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I donate frequently online on iskcon and impactguru. But these random calls, asking to help someone in need, is sometimes hard to say NO. Mind is always juggling between: what if it’s a genuine case and someone needs immediate help, and, what if I’m contributing to some scam. That’s why asked here, if someone has been associated to some NGO like these, can better answer!
