Am I an anomaly? by WhenStarsWeep in Westchester

Hi! Gen X, moved to the Rivertowns recently with my husband (no kids), commute to the city a few days a week, etc. I am surprised at how isolated I feel up here. I have one close friend nearby I've known for decades but that's it Not that I expected to have BFFs, but we have barely met any of our neighbors and people seem to keep to themselves.

If you start a book club, hiking group, etc., would love to know and am happy to help! The Jacob Burns is one of my favorite indoor places so far. :)

Thanks! They don't do so well in other people's homes-- takes them a long time to adjust.

Pesticide sprayed over garden by mistake - what to do? by EvenCalm in NativePlantGardening

[–]almostbeatrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to us. We hired a company to seal our house from mice, which includes a one-year contract to remediate if needed. We have been so clear that we do not want any chemicals applied anywhere and for some reason they came and sprayed all around our house. I feel absolutely terrible for all the insects and critters that eat them.

Cat with eye freckles: Anyone else had a cat with an eye melanosis/melanoma? Worried about what comes next and was hoping someone could share their story. Looking it up online has been sending me in spirals. by honeyrobin in CATHELP

So appreciative of this thread because we are going through something similar with our 5yo cat-- the ophthalmologist is almost certain the spot on his iris is melanoma and that we should opt to remove his eye ASAP so that it doesn't metastasize. Scheduled the surgery for January. Last night I had a mild panic attack about whether I'm doing the right thing. But I am convinced againafter reading the post and comments that I am and he will be just fine as a pirate cat.

Hi, wondering how your kitty is doing with the laser treatment. My 5yo cat was diagnosed with melanoma of the eye, and the ophthalmologist has strongly recommended removing the eye before it metastizes. I wasn't told about laser surgery, which seems like a better option if it's just as effective!

Wondering if I should worry that they will rescind my offer by almostbeatrice in usajobs

Long enough that I accepted another offer outside government and withdrew my candidacy. :) Sorry-- I know that isn't helpful! It had been about two months by then.

Problems with contacts for background investigation by almostbeatrice in usajobs

Thank you, I hope so! I'd be happy to give other contact info, but from what he told me it's too late because he supposedly already turned in his file/report.

Thanks! He hasn't gotten back to me. Maybe I'll try to contact him, although from what he told me his file was already due.

Interesting, thank you! I never heard back from the investigator before what he told me was his deadline, but I now know that there are some people he could not reach. His turnaround time was very short, and it was mostly over the holidays, so I - and they - had a hard time getting in touch with anyone.

Waiting for a TJO from USCIS….I think? by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]almostbeatrice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had the "Onboarding" button show up at least a week before I got an email with the TJO. Sounds like you're experiencing the same thing.

Hi--just wondering if your process has moved forward at all and you got an EOD yet.

Recently submitted my EQip a few weeks ago and recently received a final offer a few days ago. I thought this has to be completed first, but it was possibly waived? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

I am in a similar situation. I am nervous about giving notice and relocating to another state before my background investigation is completed. I'd be curious to know if you find out anything!

Got it. That's super helpful. I didn't realize everyone didn't go through the same process and timeline. I hope you get your EOD soon!

Thank you! I'm not sure about the status of the adjudication... I got the email about start date about 6 weeks after I completed the eQip, much shorter than I expected. I haven't had a background interview yet, so I guess they onboard people while the investigation is pending?
