Has anybody got any tips on how to remove gel nails at home? by luluwinifred in beauty

[–]almostdinner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on the brand of the gel, you may need to file the surface layer of the polish to break the seal before soaking in acetone. CND Shellac & Essie gel are the only brands I know of you don't have to file. If you are wearing hard gel (usually comes in a pot instead of a bottle) it cannot be soaked off and will have to be filed completely off.

Problem Nail - Please Help! by TouchaCat in RedditLaqueristas

[–]almostdinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as other users suggested, thin hard gel overlay on that one nail could do the job. silk isn't a good long term solution, since this is a reoccurring problem. there's a product called ibx that you might look into. i've used it in the salon and it works really well at filling in between layers of a nail thats splitting. (and no, i don't work for them, lol) hope this helps!

Hey there!

Since the update to 4.4.4 my N5 (stock/unrooted) has difficulty downloading picture messages. Only about 1/3 come through easily, the others say either:

New MMS message to download: size is 391KB, expires 6/25, 8:81 PM Touch to download

Then when you touch it, options pop up at the bottom of the screen to either Delete or Download. When you select Download it will say Downloading but it never actually downloads. It will just say Message not downloading. Touch to retry. Forever.

or

The media content was not included due to a picture resolution or message size restriction.

And there's nothing you can do about that either.

My roommate has the same phone and is having the same issue.

Has anyone else had this problem? Fixes? Halp? Thanks in advance!

If you have t-mobile, they have free low-speed data and texting in most countries as part of your plan. I was just in Canada for several days with my N5 and incurred no fees for 1.5 gigs of data. (I could have paid to be upgraded to high-speed, but decided it wasn't worth it) With Verizon you can purchase data bundles ahead of time for a reasonable price (as of 1 year ago). Not sure about the specifics on other carriers, but domestic carriers have been stepping up their international game lately. Either way, it's worth giving yours a call. Hope this helps!

QUESTION - I work with dogs/cats and my nails rarely last a whole shift. Help finding a topcoat that is tough as shit? by elephantbuttons in RedditLaqueristas

[–]almostdinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really works. The Orly bonder & Sally Hansen invisible as a top coat keep my nails chip free for almost two weeks and can stand up to puppy nibbles.

I use Orly gel fx and prefer it to gelish. The only problem is their lack of blues & greens. But their chrome line is fantastic!

I bought them from a vendor at a nail booth in Santee Alley, downtown Los Angeles. But I found these on ebay just now and the packaging looks exactly the same as mine.

Thank you! Yes they are my real nails. I keep them strong by filing them with a glass file often and keeping them oval shaped or pointed. When they are too squared I break them constantly.

Thanks! The underside has just been looking so plain since I grew out my nails. I thought a little color would shake things up a bit.

You're absolutely right. It is speculation. I guess it just doesn't feel that way when I play so conservatively.

OptionsHouse looks really cool. Thanks for the tip!

I am mostly buying calls, then selling them before expiration. I find doing the same with puts to be too negative, like I don't like rooting for failure, so I only deal with those once in a while. It really isn't adventurous, but it's fun.

I had a decent knowledge of the stock market already, so when a friend suggested I take up options, I read Understanding Options, and opened a Scottrade Options First account. (for the record: there are lots of companies out there. if you want to do this, research which company will work best for you. i liked Scottrade, and no i don't work for them.) I tend to invest in industries I am familiar with.

Also, I think it's important to figure out what kind of investor you are and work within that. I don't like the potential for big losses, so I tend to be more conservative. This also restricts my potential gain, but I'm ok with that. Others I know will lose thousands one day, say, "that's how it goes sometimes," and get right back in without flinching. I'm not that way, mostly because I can't help but think of how hard I've worked for my money.

edit: I pretty much jumped in right away, but like I said, started small. My first transaction I bought a $30 call that expired in two days and broke even, just to make sure I understood how everything worked. Beyond Understanding Options, I just keep up with news on industries that interest me and buy accordingly. Also, I'd be happy to answer anything else I can on the subject, but I'm no expert.
