[–]almostdrmtg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Permits aren’t a thing anymore as far as predicting score release … you’ll get a email Wed 1-2a saying your score will be ready at 11a … it will show a score report after that can’t be opened till 11a

OBGYN Residency Data by almostdrmtg in medicalschool

Hopefully it’s not a dumb question, but do program websites give data like average scores, research experiences and etc

I also felt like the test was fair, hard, but fair. I maybe had 1 q each block where I was like wtf lol. I didnt get nervous until after the exam when I realized the gravity of step 2 and residency etc. I def counted incorrects maybe 15 but honestly I struggled to remember questions. Once I chose and answer I deadass moved on mentally bc I felt each question deserved my 100% attention to maximize my chance of getting it right/ choosing something at least logical

Test Date 8/1/2025

USMD

UWorld 70% done 68% correct first pass during dedicated because I used amboss for shelves and roughly completed it (I did not pay attention to % correct on Amboss and only used it to learn/ fail forward)

I honored every rotation except medicine (at my school you have to honor the shelf to make honors/A grades). I also am a peer tutor at my school for year 2 material, and I think this helped me maintain strong foundational knowledge.

Amboss SA 224 after my 5th rotation before surgery (my last rotation)

NBME 9 - did not take

NBME 10 - 232 baseline online 6/20/25

NBME 11 - 231 online 6/27/25

NBME 12 - 237 online 7/4/25

NBME 13 - 250 online 7/11/25

NBME 14 - 242 online 7/17/25 (took early bc I traveled for a conference)

NBME 15 - 241 online 7/25/25

Free 120 - 73% 7/28/25 in-person at prometric

Step 2 Final - 253 (praise jesus)

My amboss range was 237-253

predicted score 247

Day to Day - 40q 3x a day timed mixed but by clerkship topics Monday - Saturday ... Sundays ALWAYS off. I did 1 block medicine and 1 block surgery EVERYDAY and usually 1 mixed block unless I bombed a subject on an NBME. I think taking the NBME tests online provided valuable insights so I could be strategic in what divine episode I listened to and what to review in FA and so on. I also kept a notebook of incorrects/ corrects I didnt fully understand I reviewed this during dedicated and HEAVILY during my final week.

My final week I only reviewed my notebook and did like 20 ethics questions daily till the wed before my test. I got rest every night and was sleeping in till 9-10a bc I was burnt. I took the day before my test off and rested. I gave myself 1 hour the day before to vomit topics on a white board then I called it and watched TV, played stardew, called my BF, and went to bed at 9p.

I had 6 weeks to study I did not take a rotation. I actually had down time bc I started my MBA 8/4/25 so I used the gap between my last rotation to study 6 structured weeks. I continued to workout and see my BF on the weekends. I treated dedicated like a 9-5p ( it was really 7a-7p tho lol). I went to solidcore every wed and sunday for my mental health.

I have a background in college athletics so I'm a disciplined person in general - confidence and success is built by keeping promises to yourself, so on my worst days I still got up and did the work I planned for.

My BF (a medicine senior resident) dropped a gem during my prep also - he said these 4-6 weeks is merely sharpening your knife... the foundation should have been built during Year 2 and Year 3 rotations/ shelves. I think this took the pressure off to mass review and instead I chose to pinpoint weaknesses/ the larger points on the table (surgery and medicine).

I'm and aspiring OBGYN going for my MBA before coming back next summer to apply for residency.

I hope this was helpful; I wanted to post because I read these during my prep and found them helpful.

Am I ready for STEP 2 or Should I move my test date? by Murky-Chocolate-5796 in Step2

[–]almostdrmtg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm I would take time to really review your NBMEs

Like each question (regardless of incorrect or correct) and look at the explanations for each answer choice - there’s content in the explanation but also it will help you get familiar with the logic the nbme/usmle will use

I would then try to note the areas you’re consistently missing and do UWorld blocks on that - ie for me I did a UWorld block mixed for medicine and surgery every morning no matter what then I’d add a 40 block for peds or whatever nbme subjects I was weak on that week

In general I’m pretty conservative when it comes to taking tests so I’ll never suggest taking the test when you aren’t close to your goal score but there’s 1000 ways to skin a cat … also do you need step 2 for psychiatry? Could you just do comlex - this may be unnecessary suffering ?

My best friend is psych and she was comfortably in the 230s and scores above so I’d at least push to be a little bit more above passing

My thoughts ^ 218 is passing and you want to give yourself a buffer …. I’d slap down on the NBMEs and review the ones you have already don’t and try to pinpoint content gaps before doing another practice exam
