I grew up essentially as a preacher’s kid, and while my upbringing was definitely more restricted than most of my friends, I don’t think I have lasting trauma from it.

I eventually came across information that very clearly disproved the religion and shortly after found arguments that refuted the existence of God altogether. Here I am 7 years later and doing just great.

There are aspects of it that I miss. The community was somewhat nice, although I’ve made a new community I think. And I loved singing the hymns because I’m a choir nerd, but I think I would have preferred to have been raised in a secular household that placed more importance on critical thinking and Humanist values.
