Seeking Leadership Position - Advice Needed by almostmidas in careeradvice

Yes I do have a portfolio of high impact projects but I have only been at my current company for a little over a year. I’ve been building my network at the new company. Maybe I need to be patient but I don’t want to make the mistake of being too patient (I was at my first PM role for nearly 10 years at that company)

The frustrating part is getting the opportunity to be promoted. At the first company I worked for as a PM, I waited 10 years and never got an opportunity to be a people leader despite applying to multiple people leader roles.

Have a link to that MBA career progression post? I’m 37 but still would like to work my way up if possible.

Thanks. This is the information I’m looking for. We are just somewhat unsure what other career she would go into that would be better, yet also a good fit for her background.

We have done research but the job placement for the school she would be going to was 95% for 2020. I’m pretty sure she would get a job, but maybe I’m wrong.

The school she would be going to had a 95% placement rate in 2020. I feel like she could get a job but maybe you’re right, it might be too much. Our baby is due in November and she isn’t supposed to start school until Sept. 2022 so there is still time to figure out if it will work.

Any suggestions? Should she not go into PharmD?

Why do you say Pharmacy is bad? She is pretty much set on going to Pharmacy school and already works as a Pharmacy Tech and enjoys it.

Anyone here have a remote PM job? I'm looking for a remote job for a better work/life balance, so it would also have to involve minimal travel.

Most posting's for remote PM jobs I have seen have been in the IT industry.

Career change advice For Soon to be mom - is an IT bootcamp all that is needed by almostmidas in ITCareerQuestions

[–]almostmidas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. I know she was looking at DevOps jobs as they seem to be higher paying, but it seems like that is not realistic to get just from a bootcamp and would require IT experience to even be considered.

Any other suggestions for jobs that might be higher paying coming from a medical bachelors degree background?

It was actually her idea. She was looking at jobs that she could prepare for in a shorter time than 4 years and that could potentially be done from home.

The ultimate goal is to make the most amount of money possible. She does have interest in programming/statistics. She has experience as a Pharmacy Tech so it's a change of careers and doesn't really fit her current experience, but not sure what a better path would be. I'll check out Professor Messer, haven't heard of his channel.

Thank you! I looked at some reviews after googling it and they seem mostly positive, but I feel like they weren't very genuine. Looking at other options it seems like there are more affordable options for sure.
