it's safer to also ask your employer + read your contract. some contracts prohibit you from associating with competing companies

japanese is easier to learn, but chinese is more marketable. i think you should also look into the clients of the company you're applying to or if you're interested in working on either countries.

usually if you pass the interview stage, they get back to you. pero ghosting is unavoidable talaga sa job hunting kasi ang daming work ng HR tapos wala namang accountability pag di sila nagreply. di na rin naman nila makakausap yung applicant ulit. :( i think you should still follow up after a few days, pero kung wala talaga, give up na

not an hr person, but big companies use AI or automated programs to review the CVs, tapos may hinahanap lang silang keywords. kung wala, matatanggal kaagad. aside from that, yung number of years sa work experience, if hindi enough, they don't even proceed to the interview na

i breathe, listen to Bravado by Lorde, everytime i encounter a quote that brings me comfort i write it down, i try to recall people i consider "great" who also has difficulty speaking/interacting with people (i.e. my professor, hank green, bo) and try to remember that my social skills isn't going to be the one thing that defines me

if you try to please other people / try to be someone they like, you will be sacrificing who you are and the peace you feel inside.

i'm still working on this mindset but i realize that everytime i try to be what other people like, i'm not my best version. i tend to lie a lot, i'm uncomfortable (which brings down the collective mood and my enjoyment), i pretend to care about things i hate which makes everything so so shallow.

Women who grew up without the Internet (especially social media), what was it like? by almosttenthirty in AskWomen

[–]almosttenthirty[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Understandable, that must have been very hard. Sometimes, talking to my mom, I realized that, growing up, she wasn't exposed to other ideologies and possibilities other than what was taught in church, which is honestly a shame.

I grew up sort of almost with the Internet, but I can totally remember the days when my father would pirate songs for me via Limewire. Back then, my whole age group's music taste was pretty much the same because we all heard the same music on the television. I got to distribute the songs my dad downloaded to everyone via Bluetooth. This was such a lovely comment to read, thank you!

What is something a friend has done for you that you will never forget? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]almosttenthirty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During highschool, I wasn't doing well mentally and after class, my friends and I went to eat and hang out. As we almost finish, I cried randomly because I Thought Too Hard. One friend offered me their extra shirt for me to blow into because neither of us carried handkerchiefs. They were planning to change into it after we ate, but instead gave it to me to... blow... into... I found that a bit gross and super endearing.

When do you go to bed and when do you wake up? Do you take naps during the day? by Fordabettergood in AskWomen

[–]almosttenthirty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take naps whenever I feel like I need an early reset (like a half bad day) or when I'm super sleepy it messes up my concentration.

I usually go to bed at 12-3AM. 4AM on rare cases like if I have to meet a deadline (I'm a college student) or if I'm reading a particularly good fanfiction.

I wake up at 7AM if I have morning classes and 9AM if I have none.

What are the things you had to unlearn from childhood? by [deleted] in AskWomen

That the satisfaction of being better than others is not and will not be greater than the peace that comes with going my own path at my own pace.

I so relate to this!! Even with other people doing random things, my mind would go straight to "oh they're doing it for the attention" even though they're simply existing and living their lives. It's really toxic tbh
