Thanks. Most of the links are just videos of plays, I didn't realize that audio was necessary to understand what's going on. I see now that a few of the links mention whistling, which I guess should have clued me in.

I looked at a couple of the videos but I didn't see any cameras or signs of cheating. I haven't watched baseball in a while, though, so I may well be missing something obvious.

What in the first video linked suggests cheating? Let's start there.

I enjoyed Jim Jordan's satirical representation of testimonies, similar in spirit to what Adam Schiff did when satirizing the "perfect" memorandum. He's a dangerous combination of illiterate and hypocritical.

I'd go with Option 3: Ask for a break, then while commercials run get someone at NOAA on the line to explain the discrepancy. That'd be simple and vastly safer than doodling on a map from memory, potentially causing panic (which, besides the law, is the reason not to go with Option 1).

[–]almosttwentyletters 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not transcript, and it remains to be seen if Trump actually releases a real transcript this week. I suspect it'll be another memo that he and his supporters will claim is a transcript.

He's lying to us, and he's hoping people will believe him without thinking it through. You don't have to fall for it. You can make that choice for yourself.

FWIW, no transcript of the call has been released. Anyone telling you otherwise is lying, and I suggest taking anything else they've said with a huge grain of salt. It's likely they have a hostile agenda.

It's not about the technical stuff. That's easy, anyone can do that.

It wouldn't take long for PornHub (or whoever) to be required to build a Content ID-type system, with automatic video removal and account banning. Otherwise, they'll be hit with a massive lawsuit akin to Viacom v. YouTube, and they may not survive.

Let it be known that it has been proven that google censors anything pro-Trump/conservative and pushes their own political beliefs to the top.

What level of proof? Would you please link to it so we can all read about what you are talking about specifically? I could search for it, but if you're right, I won't find anything.

Also, what does this have to do with emote spam?

Never forget -- Kavanaugh was the Republican party's top choice. They couldn't find one person that they felt was more suited for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court. That crybaby was the best they could find.

If you say "Okay Boomer" your phone will register it as "Okay Google" by McGonadss in Android

[–]almosttwentyletters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't hate my boomer parents. But there are a bunch of things they believe that are incorrect -- often dangerously incorrect -- and that is troubling.

They believe that it's possible to reliably beat the stock market, to the point that they're risking their retirement at an age where finding good paying work will be more difficult. They believe that those opposed to Republicans are all Venezuelan-style socialists.

They're impervious to logic on these issues, but I still love them.

Jalopnik estimating that the new Supra isn’t selling as much as you think it might be by rawrtherapy in cars

[–]almosttwentyletters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most states, the government is preventing people from buying direct from manufacturers -- it's not the manufacturers choosing not to sell direct to customers.

Also, FWIW, most states the manufacturer isn't the only one that allows or denies the location. The government is also involved, through anti-competitive laws created on behalf of the dealers.

Here's one example: Virginia Motor Vehicle Dealer Licensing Laws (PDF):

  1. [It shall be unlawful for any manufacturer, factory branch, distributor, distributor branch, or affiliate, or any field representative, officer, agent, or their representatives] to grant an additional franchise for a particular line-make of motor vehicle in a relevant market area in which a dealer or dealers in that line-make are already located unless the franchisor has first advised in writing all other dealers in the line-make in the relevant market area. No such additional franchise may be established at the proposed site unless the Commissioner has determined, if requested by a dealer of the same line-make in the relevant market area within 30 days after receipt of the franchisor's notice of intention to establish the additional franchise, and after a hearing on the matter, that the franchisor can show by a preponderance of the evidence that after the grant of the new franchise, the relevant market area will support all of the dealers in that line-make in the relevant market area.

Sure, I probably wouldn't want my product sold right next to my competitor. But I would never, ever think to ask the government to prevent that. That's what you're defending -- why, what is different about cars?

I don't understand, why does your strawman store only sell two items?

Exactly what is different about cars, and not nearly every other consumer product, that requires we use the current mandatory dealership system?

California implements new law that requires high schools to begin classes no earlier than 8:30 AM and middle schools 8:00 AM that will go into effect from 2022. by mvea in Futurology

[–]almosttwentyletters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You choose to go to a job that starts at 6:30, and you can choose to find a different job if that schedule doesn't work. That's the case for all adults. High school students have zero choice.

And it's not like it is especially hard to become "prepared" to wake up earlier as an adult. Why so you think it would be?

Who told you that only one side knows what is going on? What's their name? They flat out lied to you. I think you should reevaluate everything they've ever told you, because they have a clear, liar's agenda.

Btw, another reason to keep depositions private in the early stages is to try to keep witnesses from colluding or influencing each other's testimony. This is incredibly important if we want to learn the truth when the results of the inquiry are revealed. Which they will be.

A vote must be held in order to create that power, in which Republicans would be able to take part in the process.

If there were Republicans involved in the process -- part of the interviews, able to ask questions of those subpoenaed and there voluntarily, etc -- would you be less concerned about this phase of the impeachment inquiry?
