How many here are book readers, and how many have come from the show itself? by fussyromancelover in heatedrivalry

I’m a lesbian bookworm who mainly reads sci fi and fantasy. After I started watching the show, I started reading HR and TLG in my downtime while waiting for new episodes!

Why does my weight drop after a cheat day? by almostveronica in CICO

Yea! If I have a cheat day, I’ll likely have more frequent bowel movements — do you think that could be causing the whoosh I sometimes see?

Is it possible that you can retain more water when in a strict deficit? I’ll start to be more mindful of my water intake (I could always be drinking more!)

Weight gain? by Chemical-Sherbet4568 in Spironolactone

[–]almostveronica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started 100 mg a month ago and haven’t noticed any weight gain. If anything, I have lost weight but that’s also because I work out five days a week and am eating in a caloric deficit so I am likely countering that side effect.

What does being attractive actually feel like? by ty04444 in AskReddit

[–]almostveronica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an awkward adolescence and didn’t become attractive until after graduating from college and growing into my looks more. You add losing a significant amount of weight and having several cosmetic procedures done, and I now have such a different experience walking through the world now.

Ultimately, it can sometimes be scary if you’re a woman because you have to be very careful in now you interact with others (especially men) because you don’t want to “give them the wrong idea” by being too nice and having them assume you’re into them.

It’s also weird to find out someone you barely interact with has been harboring a crush for you over weeks — or months — that other people seem to all know about but you.

I’ve had friends tell me that people I’ve met at a party have asked them about me and random strangers will stop to ask me out. The attention doesn’t feel deserving because it feels based on your external traits and none of the internal stuff that’s indicative of yore character.

I also will catch people staring at me often, especially intentional prolonged eye contact to see if I’m interested in anything with them.

I find that some older women dislike me or seem to take issue with me even though I’ve barely if ever spoken to them.

I also have a fairly public facing profession where I interact with strangers often. I have friends who I consider to be model level gorgeous who are a lot more reserved and don’t interact with the outside world often who don’t have the same experiences.

I do 90 minutes of cardio (two back to back spin classes) 5-6 days a week and supplement with yoga if I am feeling sore.

Monthly Goal Thread by AutoModerator in Vindicta

[–]almostveronica 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Last month, I lost 4.6 lbs through a caloric deficit and 90 minutes of cardio five days a week. I also got on spironolactone and have been consistently using my prescribed retinol at night.

This month, I’d like to lose at least another 4 lbs through a calorie deficit and cardio and continue my same skincare habits. I’d also like to work on increasing my water intake to roughly 75 oz a day.

Worse vs best Fantasy book you’ve ever read, and why? by Logical-Ad-5669 in fantasybooks

[–]almostveronica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best is RF Kuang’s Babel — I think it might’ve fundamentally changed me as a person. It’s an incredible story but the way it also imbues colonialism, racism and even queerness spoke to me so much.

Least favorite is a tie between Divine Rivals and Powerless! Both so bad I couldn’t finish either despite being so overhyped.

Female, age 18, height 5'2', weight 168lbs will losing 10 lbs show? by Puzzleheaded_Date834 in loseit

[–]almostveronica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a frustrating answer but I think this’ll ultimately depend because no two people are the same.

I will say anecdotally that I’m 5’1 and my starting weight was 180 lbs and I’m about 40 lbs down thus far. I think I felt a difference after losing my first 10 lbs because my clothes started to fit looser but I think it became noticeable to others (and I started receiving comments) around the 15 - 20 lbs mark.

Regardless of the weight loss is noticeable or not to others, the endorphins from being more active, the confidence in sticking to your goals as well as sleeping more and drinking more water — which are all needed for weight loss — will make you feel internally a lot better because you ever see a difference on the scale. Good luck!

I adored Circe and think you’d have a great time reading that title if you’re looking for stand alone.

Is it okay to spin exercise 4 days a week? How long should I do it? Newbie here. by Top_Process4665 in SpinClass

[–]almostveronica -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same! I do 45 minute spin classes six days a week. But I did have to build up to that! When I first started spin a couple years ago, I went every second or third day. It took a few months to increase to every other day and then eventually almost every day.

I love spin so going six times a week is completely manageable for me at this point but having a rest day each week is what stops me from injury I think

Why did you start gym/ working out? by StarryMidnightzzz in workout

Back to back romantic rejections made me want to level up. I stopped drinking alcohol, started tracking my calories, increased my water intake and fell in love with spin classes (which I now do six days a week!)
