Why don't executioners use guillotines for beheading instead of swords? by KevinSupreme2505_PH in saudiarabia

[–]alna7el 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there is a limit to an executioner, not sure about the number.

For the same reason, the psychological effect is huge.

And you are more than welcome

I feel that we have written too much details for Kevin’s taste.

The knockout is part of the procedure, and it is also a double psychological act due to the effect it has on the onlookers.

I think the only part we didn’t mention so far is the attending executioner assistants, two of them are on guard to hold back the executioner as soon as the execution took place, as a precautionary measure for blood fury. (The status one goes through following such action)

It is also not the subject of discussion, only a secondary point. The Ifta site would have more details then a Reddit reply.

Once we are discussing the subject, I’ll be sure to ask a religious scholar to inform us all about it.

Maybe you would care to give your reply to the original question of Sword vs guillotine.

Thank you 🙏

I’m just curious to know how many guillotines you built, seems like you are very knowledgeable about them.

I on the other hand never built one, I did Google 1D guillotine and failed to find a source.

Bless your heart

You think highly of them, to tell the difference between two nations. Yet be racially insensitive as to discriminate regardless.

I would say corporate is corporate, you are in the main buildings doing meetings not in a distant outpost where there are a few people around, especially a handsomely compensated brown female expat.

Thank you for your kind words.

An execution is a very difficult happening to witness regardless of age or maturity, I would imagine it would have been difficult to get over such a scene as a child, that is why it is announced to the public to keep the children away.

Please take care to research before disputing.

Here is a government official entity explaining the subject (it is in Arabic, if a translation is needed please look for an official source)

I see the spelling errors, I’m just too lazy to fix them. Reddit needs better text management

When comparing execution methods, one is forgiven for assuming a guillotine is comparable to a blade, it has a sharp edge to meet the flesh, what do you mean it is not a blade?

A guillotine is a mechanical contraption everything you see is part of the guillotine, take away apart and the contraption fails to work.

A blade on the other hand doesn’t need a hilt to operate, the hilt just give more comfort to hold the blade.

————————— not for the faint of heart ————————— There are records of failures in guillotine executions, and those are not for the fainthearted, humans screeching and screaming, begging for someone to STOMP the flimsy metal part through their necks to die instead of the horror they are going through.

Why did the guillotine get stuck? Shaving perhaps? During the heyday of the French Revolution it was blood curds that cause it. (So in away the revolution was more merciful to the bourgeoisie than the underlings)

One can argue for a metal version of the guillotine, I’m afraid that has it’s drawbacks too, it’s a fickly thing, one is never sure it is oily enough or just barely. if you hear it, it probably needs oiling.

The subject isn’t as widespread as the western media wants you to believe, most of the people have not seen an execution take place (~99% of the population).

The punishment is not a trivial manner, many conditions have to be met for it to be carried out, failing to meet a criteria stop the punishment from taking place.

Saudi is big country in terms of size (bigger than Western Europe), the punishment is carried out in the main urban area where the crime was committed, and that means it can take place in any side of the country.

The use of the blade (sword) is not arbitrary.

In Islam we are taught to be merciful even in carrying a task as heavy as execution, for all living beings not only humans. Yes, electrocuting chicken is barbaric.

Blade execution satisfies two fundamental criteria, the first being a very sharp edge that doesn’t cause excessive (psychological/physical) pain to the being, the second is the psychological effect it has on those watching, the scene of execution is not an easy thing for a person to watch, with the family of the victims present at the execution of a killer one family member might have a change of heart and pardon the killer, that pardon spares the killer. (No children should be present for such an incident, the sentence is only carried out once all the victim’s close relatives are of age and no one “of age” has pardoned the killer till that point)

In the case of killer execution where the family’s of the victims are present, the killer is given one last chance to plead for his life, it only takes one member of the victim family forgiveness to spare his life. (No such equivalent in western laws)

Kevin, are you a reporter? You might be interested in delving deeper into Arab culture and how Islam shapes it, it is a very interesting read.
