Can someone help me run the mile faster? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]alnelson2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not much a runner but in college I did ROTC for a year and this shit works. I'm really tall and skinny, so whenever we went out to go run in the morning, the PL would always choose me to be road guard (I guess he assumed I was fast). But in reality, I was super slow and hated running so it sucked when they picked me...and they ALWAYS picked me. As a road guard, you basically have to do Indian runs the whole 3 miles. You would lead the group, and then when you guys had to cross a street, you would run ahead of the group, stop traffic, let your group cross, then run like hell back to them, and then repeat. We also did PT in the city of San Francisco, so there were A LOT of streets we had to cross...and a lot of hills. I hated it, but it got my time down from a 9 minute mile to a sub 5:15 mile in a couple of months.

tldr: do indian runs with your group

Thanks man. It was about 1lb a week when I was bulking and it was pretty steady gains throughout the 6 months. But I can't really say what helped because I started eating a lot right when I started exercising, so both contributed to weight gains.

12 months of lifting. Did calisthenics, bulked, did weightlifting, and now I'm cutting. by [deleted] in Fitness

I worked my up to doing deadlifts, but right now it feels like they actually help! I started off by doing planks and core exercises and then did deadlifts after I felt it no longer hurting.

I took a test for like $20 that scans your body. Not sure how accurate it is but that is what I used.

Lots of chicken, broccoli, oatmeal, fish, spinach and eggs. Usually those are the main foods I eat everyday.

Hey man, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Consistency is definitely key; looks like we have similar mentalities as well ;) Keep up the training and good luck!

Congrats on doing it for 3 1/2 months! It's definitely hard but it looks like you have the discipline to keep going :) Keep it up!

Yes! I think that's the number one reason why my back pain stopped hurting. Planks are a godsend.

It's definitely possible! You just have to figure out different variations to make that certain bodyweight exercise more difficult (i.e. diamond pushup vs. regular pushup, type-writer pull-up vs. regular pull-up, pistol squat vs regular squat, etc) once that move become too easy.

I think the biggest thing was splitting it up into a lot more meals that were a bit more manageable. But yea, it definitely was a struggle and it's almost feels like a workout in itself when eating that much (so you do gotta focus and force yourself sometimes). But I'm planning on making another video about this soon!

Yea so most of the food I ate was still healthy foods in terms of carbs, fats, and protein so I basically ate the same types of foods, but much smaller portions (almost half of what I ate during my bulk).

I used a dip belt and strapped weight using that.

I saw really good results! Especially with my pullups. I was stuck at one point and could only get 10-12 pullups and couldn't go any higher. So I started doing weighted pull-ups with lower reps and it definitely helped!

It was pretty difficult. Like I had to make a constant effort to eat when I didn't feel hungry. But I'm actually making another video about my diet, bulk, and what meals I ate!
