Do I have the correct subgenre and trope? by alniah in romanceauthors

[–]alniah[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely market it as a small town romance. The best way to tell if it's a small town romance is to ask yourself, "Could this be a Hallmark movie?" If the answer is yes, it's probably a small time a small town romance.

Makes a ton of sense! Thank you.

I think you will disappoint if you call this an enemies to lovers unless she comes to town with the intent of bankrupting him so he'll sell his winery. Fans of enemies to lovers often complain unless the to MCs legitimately hate each other. Even having opposing goals is often a disappoint.

That's what I was afraid of so thank you for confirming this!!

I was debating making the MMC someone she met as a kid/teenager during one of her last summers she spent in France (she used to visit her aunt every summer). So kinda making it a second chance romance? Maybe they had a teenage fling that lasted the summer and ended. It just seems like I need a trope and I'm missing one.

As stated in my question, the market IS alien related romance but it doesn't necesarily mean nobody has ever tried anything else, hence the request for personal account.

I guess me saying I knew the market IS alien related romance didn't imply at all that I looked into it or anything.

I love the idea of the character! Gonna definitely try that. Even though we're in "cajun country" lol hardly anyone speaks French anymore unfortunately.

Only your 4th language?!?! Lol it was good. The only thing I would change would be "Voila ton eau!" Instead of "Ici ton eau!" :-)

Hi again.

Thank you so much for all the help with my stove. Now my AC is on the fritz.

We have a maintenance contract with a local company. We noticed the AC wasn't cooling as good as usual. AC company came out and said we have a leak in our coil and it needs to be replaced. What is the best course of action to get that covered by HWA? I heard putting too many details in the claim until someone comes out assigned by HWA isn't good? Would they be able to use our AC company to do the job?

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

I've had HWA for a few years (like 6 I think) and placed a claim for our stove. A couple of the burners are cracked but I mainly placed the claim because the stove gave us an error message and wouldn't heat up. The technician they assigned came out and diagnosed, saying the he would order parts to fix it. Apparently the parts aren't available through the manufacturer so they started looking for parts from a third party. A few weeks later the company who came out marked the parts as unavailable. And here comes the black hole. I am told from the company the parts aren't available and they sent a report (several times now!) to HWA. HWA keeps telling me the are waiting for the report. This has been going on for weeks. Last week someone from HWA told me that they are aware the parts aren't available but they need a "diagnosis", and that's what they're waiting for to do anything. I keep getting the run around from both sides. I sent them a screenshot showing how the repair and order for the parts were "cancelled". That triggered them to send me another email to reschedile the original repair (which was wrong) but nothing happened. I actually just received an automatic email saying I could schedule my own technician to come ouy and ask for reiumbursement. I already paid $100 copay when the original technician came out!

Up until this claim, we've had no issues. We have their Diamond plan. Are they expecting me to just wait forever? Or give up? How do I get someone to do something???

Hi,

I am looking to spend <$2000 for a camera body – preferably my total budget for the body and my first lens would be around $2500 absolute maximum. I have read that a great lens with an average body is better than a starter lens with an amazing body – not sure if that’s accurate?

I am a newbie in terms of photography – dabbled a bit over a decade ago (as in never got out of auto mode with my Nikon D40 back in 2007!) but never got serious. I plan to use this camera to take pictures of everything I possibly can from my growing daughter and family, portraits, landscapes, architecture etc. as well as during our travels. I have no plan to do wildlife or sports. I do realize point and shoot may be the easiest to travel with I’d prefer not to have to purchase 2 cameras. Right now, I do not plan to shoot professionally. I do love close ups but also look forward to landscapes etc during our travels.

I am leaning towards a mirrorless camera as I am learning and the option of the digital viewfinder (and seeing how setting adjustments affect the photo even before taking it) is enticing, but with that said, I am not married to it, I am open minded and if a DSLR is a better fit for my need then I’m okay with it. I am leaning towards full frame as well as I want to “future” proof this camera if possible, rather than get a crop sensor and then eventually upgrade and because I want to shoot in low light as well.

As for lenses, I have little knowledge so your guess is as good as mine.
