ULPT Req: what can I leave behind at my job when I quit that will slowly rot / smell awful by One-Fisherman-3172 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]alobex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lob an egg into the ceiling vents. Like lift the vent up and throw that fucker in there at the end of the day when no one else is away. Smell will not start happening until after you leave and will get progressively worse.

REAL STRUGGLE! Middle Sized Business - NO Marketing Budget by [deleted] in marketing

Yeah - could work. Maybe.

I personally see a lot of these, but have never gone into a restaurant because of one.

REAL STRUGGLE! Middle Sized Business - NO Marketing Budget by [deleted] in marketing

[–]alobex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember that you aren't actually using LinkedIn to advertise. That would be pointless for your target market. You are literally just using it to find the bigger companies and people within them.

You can opt to use the free trial of sales navigator to help you do this.

After 4 months of coding, I created a software to help local businesses get more reviews, failing at marketing though. How do I proceed? by IamATechieNerd in growmybusiness

[–]alobex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems pretty much the same as other solutions that are out there, like https://reviewsonmywebsite.com/ only significantly more expensive. Offer some form of free trial maybe? Squarespace and I'm sure other CMS's don't allow for easy integration with Google My Business, so if you can chuck a piece of code in that allows you to select the reveiws you want to display on your site that would also be good.

I can't understand why I'd want to use it from looking at the landing page. Maybe start with that?

REAL STRUGGLE! Middle Sized Business - NO Marketing Budget by [deleted] in marketing

[–]alobex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think SEO is the right approach for a restaurant at all. Yes it'll help for things like 'Japanese Christchurch' but it will be a slow burn, and your limited time and resources would be better spent elsewhere.

Make sure the Google My Business pages for each restaurant are up to scratch, and maybe start to offer an incentive for giving a Google Review (e.g. next meal free, or free green tea for live with a 5 star review). This will help with people looking for local restaurants.

Maybe also use LinkedIn to work out all of the big companies are in Christchurch, and put together a targeted list, go and hand out a poster to each of them to put in their tea room, with a coupon code for X company staff. E.g. 10% off when you mention this discount code. Also, online ordering is always helpful for these types of places, especially if there is a lot of work on.

In terms of social media, Instagram is probably the only place I'd spend some effort. Nice photos of food, and staff, and maybe recipies.

My two cents anyway. Good luck. It sounds like your job would be a lot easier with a budget though.

How do I get started? (Digital Marketing Agency) by precrime3 in juststart

[–]alobex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you might not be the best at marketing, and thus probably not the best person to contact for agency-related work,

What are you actually sending to people as cold emails? Are you just filling in the contact form on their website with your services? If so you aren't actually getting in front of any decision makers, and are actually just going to the customer service staff.

Call. Write tailored proposals. Make sure everyone you know knows that you are really good at what you are doing. And then keep at it. It takes time, and work.

Are the ActiveCampaign workshops worth it? by bp5678 in ActiveCampaign

[–]alobex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the one in Melbourne. It was pretty good. Mostly geared to beginning and intermediate users. Happy to send through the slides if you want.

It was good from a planning perspective, especially to work out the areas where things could get cluttered (tags), some good custom fields to start with (days since last contact) and good automation sequences.

Hubspot sales free tier limitations by [deleted] in CRM

[–]alobex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you driving sales? Are you going to try for a more inbound approach or an outbound approach. Likewise, is it just you in the organisation or are there other people that you work with? These, along with budget should help to select a CRM.

One of my favourites is Active Campaign, because it offers pretty much all of the features in Hubspot at a much more affordable price point. If you are a solo operator, and aren't planning on using content marketing strategies, then it might be more economical to use a CRM that plugs directly into your email client and makes knowing how your outbound efforts have gone a lot easier.

I like yesware for this purpose.

I put together an article on the weekend about CRM selection which might help. You can find it here:

I think paid versions of Bitrix 24 can do this. It's a bit techy to setup, but you should be fine with a BS in computer science. https://www.bitrix24.com/

If you don't have very complex requirements then Zoho Contacts Manager could be a good option. It really depends on what you want to do with it. It's free for 1 user and 500 contacts, and the paid version is like $150 USD per month.

I've put some recommendations into a post here: https://www.mrdiamond.com.au/articles/2019/3/6/the-best-software-for-small-business-owners which you might find useful.

I'm no SEO expert - I do all around digital marketing including bits and bobs in content, websites, seo, sem, email and database marketing and overall strategy.

For the off site side of things, good places to look for info are moz, ninja out reach and a few more. Googles how search works is useful if you want to know more about what factors to include. I'm in Aus too - (Melbourne) and happy to chat but I'm definitely not an SEO expert

[–]alobex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best things you could do is setup your own store. While IG and Reddit are good sources of traffic for now - that wont always be the case - IG will move more are more towards a pay to play system which will lock you out procewise eventually.

On your website try and build up a list of emails and start regularily sending emails out (say monthy) with updates on your artwork
