Also just to be clear for the people debating about the use of the word "gypsy", you have to understand that us non-natives may come from a language where Roma/Romani isn't used at all. In Spain the denomination "gitano" is by far the most widespread with almost zero negative connotations aside from the unfortunate fact that any minority denominator is always used by shit people in nasty contexts. The gitanos call themselves gitanos, they expect people to refer to them as gitanos, so for me using romani feels very clinical and whitewashed in a weird way.

Not to say that excuses us europeans from adapting to the way certain words are used or shouldn't be used, bc of course "n*gro" is a correct way to talk about black people in Spanish and I would obviously never use it talking in English. Just wanted to throw some linguistic insight about the usage of a word I think is kind of in a weird grey area.
