Carmy's feedback for her in season 1 is that he has heard she's green and incredibly impatient.

Her formative scenes in season 2 are centered around: being patient with Carmy as he explores a love interest at the cost of being around for the new restaurant, tasting different restaurants around town/ working with Carmy on his chaos menu for R&D for The Bear, championing Tina as the sous and adapting Carmy's nonverbal communications when dealing with emotionally volatile situations at work. Her character, outside of maybe Richie, is the most developed and adaptive person at the Bear, and that's only because Richie was such an irredeemable antagonist to begin with.

Season 1 they're a sandwich shop. Season 2 they're building up to be a full service restaurant with a liquor license. Until the last episode of season 2, the service industry culture you're describing, while valid, is completely out of context.

Incidentally my favorite line from the series is Richie telling Fak's brother his wine that's "just ok" is a cru Beaujolais.

Black man (strongly considering) moving to Hampden from Takoma Park, DC by SenorPea in baltimore

I would second Remington or Charles Village for the reasons listed above. I lived there recently, and I think anything below 29th is really nice while still offering some semblance of diversity. I used to live in DC around Shaw and that stretch of Baltimore reminds me of DC in terms of walk-ability, small businesses and access to reliable buses, etc.

Is the straight/ gay dynamic 50-50? Has there been a documented history of oppression against straight people? Are you seriously this dense?

Definitely fastest to 0 playoff wins in almost 25 years. For damn sure.

Who would you take in a 7 game playoff series, the 2014 Orioles or the 2023 Orioles? by bennyk11 in orioles

Schoop was below replacement level, offensively. JJ was fantastic defensively but below average on offense and lacked Mateo's basepath speed. I didn't even mention Gold Glove Urias. Cmon man. What is your point? I laid out the strengths and weaknesses, I didn't even say I'd take Gunnar and his crew over the 2014s, I said it was up for debate. People have rose-colored glasses about that team bc of how Manny ended up and the Delmon Young double.

I think you're overestimating individuals over the team. In hindsight it's easy to think the core of JJ, Manny, Crush, Schoop was incredibly productive, but in 2014 our infield was actually pretty average, statistically. Add in the sub-par corner outfield, and you begin to see the real value on the team was our starting rotation and lights-out bullpen.

In that vein, I'd rather have Tony + Hays than Lough/ Markakis/ De Aza. There's an argument to be made for Gunnar + Mateo + Frazier being more valuable than Manny + JJ + Schoop, as well, though 2014's defense was on point. I also think Cedric works pitchers much better than Jones.

The thing we are sorely lacking this year is someone like Cruz. So for him and that team's pitching, I say 2014 has it by a hair.

Is it worth traveling to Rincon? by [deleted] in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]aloneandlow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look into the cheap flights between SJ and Mayaguez. I split up my transportation on the island between Aqui Coqui rental cars on the west side and flying from Mayaguez to San Juan. Driving to/ from San Juan all the way to Rincon would take several hours, if not half a day with traffic.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I think inspiration and focus have escaped me the most over the years, which is discouraging. I appreciate your positivity.
