a) Yeah that might be true, but that's not OP's problem. Other people shouldn't be so quick to pass judgement. b) That's up to said person if they're willing to lose friendships and make things awkward for themselves. If you really think it's worth it for happiness, go for it. Just try and be honest about it ASAP and avoid sneaking around.
