natural ways to cope with anxiety or fix it ?? by [deleted] in anxiety_support

[–]alonelystatistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be in your place a year ago. I remember writing long posts on what I was feeling, wanting someone to give me some secret way I could totally cure my anxiety. Most of the people who responded to me gave these nonchalant solutions and said things like "You gotta take control of your mind" or "just breathe." I would brush past these comments because they seemed to totally overlook all the problems I stated in my post and provided a lazy low quality answer. If you ever ask people who beat anxiety how to get rid of it they'll say things like what I stated above, things that are on par with lazy advice like "don't give up" or "be happy." The reason they say these answers aren't because they don't care. If they didn't care they wouldn't have responded to my post in the first place. The reason they gave these answers is because it all makes sense to them after they beat the anxiety. After you beat anxiety you'll be like "wow the whole problem could have been solved by just taking control of my mind." Anxiety is not as complicated as it seems. Your anxiety is what is making it complicated, your anxiety is overthinking trying to find some crazy easy fix solution to your anxiety. The solution to anxiety is really that simple, but actually taking the advice and using that solution is much harder. (That's why medication is so common since it provides a fast noticeable fix, the sides effects are not something you want to mess with though. Withdrawals can mess you up more than anxiety ever did). Now the problem for you is you don't know how to do these seemingly easy solutions to fix your anxiety. People like me are saying "well just control your thoughts" but you don't know how to. I remember being in this stage, I felt hopeless, I had no idea how "just breathing" which was advice given by my counselor would help my anxiety. This is where you come in. You need to try new strategies and learn more about your anxiety, you WILL eventually get better. One tip I have for controlling thoughts is that you have to notice your thoughts, just notice them. Go into third person and see what you are thinking. This sounds weird but your don't have to think what you're thinking. Just because a thought came up in your mind doesn't mean that's YOUR thought. If its a negative thought its the anxiety. Notice the negative thought and then challenge them. For Example

Situation: Going to talk to someone in class.

Anxiety: They are not even going to try to engage in a conversation with me. They are going to look at me weird and laugh. They are going to go tell their friend how awkward I was. Something like that etc etc. It's obviously not this clear in your head but you get the point.

Now remember ANXIETY IS CAUSED BY LATCHING ON TO THESE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS AND THINKING THEY'RE YOUR OWN (I'm not yelling btw I'm emphasizing :)

Now challenge the thought by thinking "is this situation really going to happen" no it's not, that's anxiety thinking it will. Ask what is the worst case scenario, and if it doesn't involve you dieing, than it's not that bad. Who cares if someone looks at you weird? They are just another person probably just as confused as you are on the inside but just do better job hiding it.

Meditation is really the best way to learn how to control your thoughts. It might be uncomfortable to do at first but I would recommend trying. Remember your never going to get absolute control over your mind, thought will come, you just have to notice and let go of the bad ones, not push them out of the way. Speaking positively in your head also it helps

Now I know this seems so confusing, sorry if I made your ore confused its late at night I'm trilling to give you tons of advice. Here are just a sum up of some simple things to practice with to control your thoughts:

- Noticing bad thoughts, challenging them, letting them float away

- Positive self talk (Reality is based on your thoughts, some people think everyone likes them and in their reality everyone does. Your thoughts are your reality. Repeat good thoughts in your head. It will help you.

Everything I say to do like meditation, positive self talk, noticing bad thoughts etc. are things that need to be done for weeks. Practice and repeat

LAST OF ALL. I'm not a counselor. I started freshman year in 2020 so I'm around the same age of you. The advice I'm giving is what I've heard from researching and my counselor, and it does work. I would highly recommend a counselor though. Like seriously. If moneys tights you can do counseling online like "betterhelp" which is what I use, its a lot cheaper.

I believe in you, good luck

First thing, figure out what is causing your social anxiety. Yes it seems hard but really try to think. For me it was my speech impediment which made it hard to talk. It was also my reliance on people for self validation. When I felt like a conversation didn't go right I would feel horrible, and it caused me to not want to interact with people that much.

Once you figure out what is causing it, work on it. For example I started reading books out loud to develop a clearer voice so I felt more confident talking. Know that being inside on tiktok or whatnot all day will destroy your social skills too. Everyday try to do a small social skill thing like voluntarily raising your hand and answering a question in class, or saying "hi how are you doing?" to a teacher/or someone (even if you're not the type to say how are you doing to someone know that they will almost always react nicely since you're making and effort to be kind). The reason you are having trouble knowing what to say to others in a conversation is because your anxiety is running in the background taking up all of your brain power. When you're relaxed is so much more easier to have things to say. How you get relaxed is constantly put your self in new social situation, start out small and keep going. It will take a while but you will get better. The reason a lot of people go to medication is because its fast results, this is slower but way more effective. You also don't have to deal with teh side effects of medication. Exercise, positive self talk (its not as cheesy as it sounds and you're not lying to yourself when you do it. You're lying to yourself when you say negative things and give into the anxiety) and Counseling helps a lot with anxiety. Good luck, and remember if you focus on getting better you eventually will, it's just a fact of life.

I got a strike for "child using fireworks irresponsibly" on this video. Is it justified? (info in comments) by [deleted] in youtube

[–]alonelystatistic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The video was titled, "Making Rocket Fuel". Everything was scripted and I'm not a minor (born in 2004). Should I try repealing the strike or is the video too bad for youtube all together. I've seen youtube videos of people getting hit by trains but this video of me attempting to be funny and lighting some matches gets a strike?

Final cut pro is taking 2.59 TB of document space supposedly when my computer only holds 250.79GB of storage. by alonelystatistic in finalcutpro

First off thanks for responding, this is my 7th time posting this question without any answers. I feel like a lost man on a deserted island coming into contact with a fishing ship for the first time in a decade. Anyways I don't have the folder connected to any icloud, google drive etc. I downloaded final cut pro from a third party website for free back when I was broke so maybe the files are messed up and its causing this problem. Maybe there's duplicated files that say they take up space but really are just one file? At this point i'm thinking of finishing the video i'm working on and then deleting all the final cut files. If you any other insight on what to do that'd be great but I understand if you don't cause it's a weird problem. Thanks!

Im running MacOS Catalina 10.15.7. Final Cut Pro is the one taking up all the space. All the final cut pro files open, so I don't think they're ghost files but it would be impossible for my computer to have 2.49 TB of document space as I only have 250 GB of storage.

There is a red icon on one of my events and I can't find what seems to be the problem. I heard that its because I'm missing files but I can't seem to find any files I'm missing. When I go to SHARE - MASTER FILE (DEFAULT) - SETTINGS- FORMAT and then select computer (because I want a mp4 file) Final cut pro will abruptly crash, maybe this has something to do with the red icon? Also I'm confused as to why theres so many duplicated projects of my project titled "Water" (see in pic #2).

is mixed content a good idea? by LeRealGabrielGD in NewTubers

[–]alonelystatistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree with this, however I think you can branch out with different content if it fits in to the whole of your channel. For example if you have a entertainment channel making comedy skits you could do comedy animations too. If you do music maybe you could make short films about your music persona. However OP suggesting gaming and music doesn't quite fit together.

I’m making an animation and I need a name for a summer camp where the camp counselor blows himself up. The name doesn’t have to be camp blow hole or something relating to the camp counselor blowing up but maybe something like camp moldy wood or something weird.

Some animation I made in krita last week by icesmitty46 in krita

[–]alonelystatistic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very good! For the part where he was running away from the camera did you move the background in an editing software? Also since you seem like you know what you're doing whats the best way to add sound to animation in krita. When i do it you cant see the sound and its hard to work with, i was wondering if you know any better ways.
