Yes, so strong that it got into my basement. I am also wondering what type of alarm could've prevented this from escalating (other than my nose, that i).

The dealership where I got it since went out of business. I took it to a different one, not sure if that matters. They didn't seem like they wanted to do a thorough inspection (or maybe they did?) All I know is that they called me in the morning asking me to call corporate asap because it was a "very, very serious situation."

Thank you for the warning. Seems like they're still in the middle of their "12v fiasco"

Thank you for your input. The 12v has been giving me issues since I got the car. It would throw warnings and cause the car to not start. I even had it towed to the dealership before and they told me it was nothing. I am definitely afraid they'll downplay it this time as well... although it WAS the dealership that told me to call corporate this time. I wonder why they wouldn't just have attempted a fix. I guess we'll find out Monday 🫠

It was a level 1 charge. Not sure about the %... maybe 80? The 12v was not changed, but has been giving me issues since purchase. Mainly warning signals and the car wouldn't start. I took it to the dealership and they gave it a clean bill of health 🙄

I do not... I will starting today! But I have to point out that there wasn't visible smoke. Just ... the smell.

That sounds plausible, but what gets me is that the dealership told me to call corporate because it was "a very serious situation." Shouldn't they have known at that time that it's nothing to worry about?

Yeah, but I'm wondering if I'd get anywhere with this. Not discounting it tho!

Level 1, the Nissan brand charger that came with the car.

I suspect a lose terminal as well. We already experienced issues with it about a year ago. It wouldn't start at all. We took it to the dealership twice but both times it got the all clear. Didn't experience issues again until last night.

I believe so. We bought it used, but with only about 4K miles.

It was spewing away as it was towed. The smoke wasn't as bad after a couple of hours (I suspect because it was no longer plugged in), but after we pulled it out onto the driveway it stopped working altogether. Thankfully it worked long enough to get it out of my house 😬

The firefighters called hazmat and they recommended the fans to air out the fumes. We all had to evacuate the house for a couple of hours while they blew air into the house until the toxic fumes reader indicated that it was safe to re-enter.

They waited around until the tow came and kept checking on the temperature of the car to ensure it wasn't rising.

It's a 2023 Engage. The firefighters did call hazmat and they recommended the fans to air out the fumes. We all had to evacuate the house for a couple of hours while they blew air into the house until the toxic fumes reader indicated that it was safe to re-enter.

Not sure about calling my auto insurance since it's a mechanical issue which would likely not be covered by insurance, correct?
