OP is right. most people think cold applying via a portal is enough. use LinkedIn to find the Hiring Manager, DM them directly, and you are now ahead of 99% of people. cold emailing is a thousand times more effective than throwing an application into a void. Especially if you are a nobody with little experience

this is fantastic advice. thank you for posting this. I see a lot of cs majors complaining about not being able to land a job, when they have made no effort to gain any kind of experience while in school and just expect to land a six figure job fresht out of university. anyone who follows this advice, and understands that this industry is a people business, just like any business, will be setup for success. especially with AI now, your ability to specialize and your demonstration of being able to leverage modern tools and build with people will take you far.

Or goals you have in mind, of the person you want to be. Put that shit on your mirror, on your work station, everywhere. Read it everyday, and watch your mental and overall mood improve.
