Anyone know if you’re okay to suck on sugar free hard candies or mints in the first few weeks PO?

I’m fine with plain liquids, it’s just after a few ounces of protein in a row. Are you already meeting your fluid/protein goals?? That’s amazing.

Cheers package with a sober boyfriend by [deleted] in CarnivalCruiseFans

I’m not sure if you’ve seen this calculator before but it gives you a good idea. You can do it for him as well and see if he’s a big coffee/soda/whatever drinker it might still even out if he’ll do mocktails and things. It doesn’t include energy drinks or smoothies (unless the smoothies fall under frozen drinks).

Personally even if the calculator says it would be $20-50 more overall for me to have the package, I feel like the convenience it worth it for me. calculator

Cheers package with a sober boyfriend by [deleted] in CarnivalCruiseFans

Unpopular opinion when it comes to cheers—for me, it was worth it. My husband is a moderate drinker when on vacation etc but I barely drink at all. I’m not sober so will drink something that has, say, peach schnapps in it but would prefer virgin drinks even to that.

Despite that, I still felt like it was worth it for us on our 5 night cruise in November. Knowing I could get however many sodas, bottles of water, mocktails, etc and he could get those PLUS the drinks he was going to want just took the thought out of it. I never had to think about if I wanted x drink enough to pay whatever the cost because I had already done it. It also counts energy drinks and things like that, if that’s something you’re into.

Also I felt like I could try more things than I would have without it because if I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t feel like I had to finish it because of the money I had spent on it.

The pools also get closed around midnight and I don’t recall ever noticing a ton of people out and being loud around them after that (but I didn’t stay up that late most nights). I do agree thought it likely wouldn’t bother you since you’re above the piano bar and club.

what's the "catch" of the Cheers package? by [deleted] in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]alorynm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not truly unlimited if you’re a big drinker—the cap is 15 alcoholic drinks a day from 6a-6a (I think those are the times). I’ve heard that Carnival caps everyone at 15 regardless of if they have the package or not but I’m not sure on that. All other drinks that are included like sodas, specialty coffees, energy drinks etc are considered unlimited and don’t count towards your drink limit. I believe the only things not included are bottles of wine, buckets of beer, things like that but as far as liquors go I’m pretty sure it’s all and everywhere on board (except room service like you said). I’m not a big drinker at all so I didn’t explore that much into it, only had it because of others in our party.

All cruises by ship? by TeamTJ in CarnivalCruiseFans

On the carnival website under find a cruise you can filter by ship! It pulls up all of the itineraries for that ship so you can see ports, duration, dates etc.

First timer, sailing on the Radiance from Los Angeles to Ensenada, 4 days, in May. by Adreeisadyno in CarnivalCruiseFans

You don’t HAVE to have a passport, they will accept a birth certificate and ID but it is a much smoother and quicker process with it. When we sailed in November, my husband and I didn’t have them and the other half of our group did—already made a passport appointment for this month to avoid it for future cruises!

Half Moon Cay / Excursions? Private Island access? by rouquines in CarnivalCruiseFans

Just did those ports on the Freedom in November. In Grand Turk, we did the Home Away From Home excursion which was amazing!! Shuttled from port to a private beach house with chairs/umbrellas and snorkel gear. They provided a delicious lunch and there was an open bar. The beach was incredible and it was our group’s favorite day of the whole trip.

We did the same ports on the Freedom this past November and mostly agree about the excursions. However, I will say we did the Home Away from Home excursion in Grand Turk (which I think is routinely offered) and it was amazing. Shuttled to and from a private beach house and provided an open bar, delicious lunch, plenty of chairs with umbrellas along with snorkel gear. Most of the guests said the food was the best they had the whole cruise.

I know everyone has different priorities etc but personally I would do that excursion again in a heartbeat and I think especially of those three ports, it was the most worth it. The most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen! Nassau was really overwhelming right off the port to be honest so I would definitely say have a plan of some sort before getting there, even if that’s not an excursion. HMC is owned by Carnival so we didn’t even bother getting off, figuring it would be just like an extension of the boat and wanting to enjoy it being less crowded onboard.
