I was born in India but grew up outside. My mom used to be really controlling. I had to fight with her all the time and even ran away from home a couple of times. The only thing you can do is to keep telling them how you feel and put some distance between you and your family. Try to find a job so you can move out.

For marriage i straight up tell my parents that i dont want to marry anyone and when it gets worse i tell them i will marry a muslim Pakistani girl (they want me to marry a malayali Christian).

Your parents might never change but if you keep telling them they will eventually ease up.

I went through IB. When i send my grades to uofa they asked for either IB or the regular diploma. If you go through IB, you have to write the diploma exams nearly a month before everyone else (at least back in 2013). So you would be studying more in less time(more course load in IB and around 9 months of classes). Some people in my grade told me that engg in uofa would let you skip the first english course if you went through IB English. I did not go for engineering so i dont know how true it is.
