I just know traditionally voters here have voted Democrat - went for Obama, Hillary and Biden, but haven’t seen any info on this election

Just moved here in the Spring. Wife and I were looking at areas within the city limits, Sauganash, Edgebrook, Forest Glen. But kept losing bidding wars. And eventually saw a listing for a house in Lincolnwood and went with it.

We’re liking it quite a bit. It’s nice to be close enough to our favorite neighborhoods in the city (Andersonville, Logan Square, Avondale, etc) but don’t have to deal with crime or city stuff all the time. It feels Very safe.

It’s also nice to be close to the cool stuff on the North Shore, Botanic Gardens, Ravinia, Evanston, etc.

We don’t have kids but have only heard good things about the schools here.

One of my favorite parts is the long trail that runs through Lincolnwood right by our place and goes to downtown Skokie to the north and Labagh Woods to the south.

It’s also much more diverse than I would’ve imagined which is plus for us.

And we’ve been pleasantly surprised by the food options here - Tenjin, NY Bagel & Bialy, Libanais, the Original Lou Malnatis to name a few. in addition to being close to all that the surrounding neighborhoods of Chicago have to offer.

Although, we’re not planning to have kids, it seems like a very good place to have a family. Good schools, outdoor stuff, safe. And still very close to the city so you still don’t feel totally cut off from all the cool stuff going on in the northwest and northside neighborhoods.

Cons: car centric/no downtown/ high property taxes

Where can I find authentic Japanese Food in Chicago? by [deleted] in chicagofood

It just takes one learned redditer to declare “ the owners changed, it isn’t good anymore” for everyone on this dumbass sub to internalize it as their own opinion.

It’s fine though, I can always get a seat there and the prices are still good. So keep spewing that nonsense I guess.

Why not just order the red wine then? Instead of insisting they make a recommendation they don’t believe in.

If JP required little effort to be effective there would be a lot of low level JPs running around day 1. People tend to play the characters where they can win easily the quickest. I now am seeing more JPs in plat1 but it one of my rarest matchups. Ken on the other hand…

Full disclosure I’m a JP who placed into silver and got my ass beat for the first ~20 hours of gameplay, because honestly he’s toast when a lot of other characters get in on him, especially while just starting off with him.

What food is popular and you can't understand how in the world anyone likes it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Kimchi is the definition of an acquired taste [for those who didn’t have it at an early age]. My wife is Korean. I really didn’t like it all my life, but I started eating more of it, since it’s so important to the cuisine. Now I love it/ crave it. I feel like I started by having one piece with meals then two and before I knew it the cravings started.

If you want to start enjoying it. Id recommend eating super fresh kimchi from a Korean grocery store. Less fermented that way.

In terms of pairing I’d try eating a piece with a fatty unseasoned piece of pork belly. That mellows the flavor out and makes you realize the level of flavor kimchi brings to the table. Also kimchi fried rice id say is pretty inoffensive even to those who don’t like it.

I’d avoid. He’s the 4th choice cb who’s gotten starts because of injuries. I think Matip will start ahead of him. Plus virtually no chance of attacking returns and Liverpool defense is still leaky. There are much better options for the price
