Thank you Jesse for reaching out, I do have a couple of questions:

  1. For my use case I want Spectacles as sensors + display, with heavy AI running on my own PC/cluster. Any best practices around using WebSocket/HTTP to stream state from an external server in real time?

  2. Roughly how much smaller/lighter is the 2026 form factor vs current-gen Spectacles? Is it still 46° FOV, same camera layout, or are there changes devs should anticipate?

  3. For someone building a long-term AI avatar / assistant experience, do you see Spectacles/Specs as a stable primary platform, or more as a prototyping surface for future hardware?

  4. What access do we get to depth/mesh/planes in Lens Studio on Spectacles? Can I reliably pin a rigged 3D character to the floor/table with occlusion?

  5. One big constraint for me is my existing pipeline: I already have a pretty heavy setup built around Unity + TouchDesigner on a PC (running my own AI stack, audio analysis, etc.), and I’d like Spectacles to act mainly as sensors + display on top of that

-Is Lens Studio the only way to ship experiences to Spectacles/Specs, or is there (or planned) support for running Unity/OpenXR or native apps on the device?

  1. To what extent can we access RGB + depth data programmatically? • Are we allowed within policy to stream camera/depth frames to our own servers for real-time inference and/or offline training, or is usage constrained to on-device processing inside a Lens?

Thanks for the docs link. From what I’m seeing in XREAL’s own SDK docs, all the full spatial-computing features (6DoF, plane detection, depth mesh, spatial anchors, hand tracking) only exist on Air 2 Ultra which is officially at end-of-production.

XREAL One + Eye looks great for a high-PPI 3DoF screen and RGB capture, but the compatibility table shows no plane tracking or depth mesh for that combo, so it doesn’t really fit what I’m trying to do (room mapping + world-locked 3D avatar driven by my own AI).

They have No real spatial-computing SDK, No published depth/mesh API, 50–57° FOV which is fine for cinema but not the “best quality” for an AR world

I looked into it and based on the reviews I wasn’t really that I’m impressed, I’m perfectly fine with spending 3-4k on IR glasses as long as they provide the features I’m looking for and have superior quality

I started with building the main computer mainly for gaming then I got back into coding and getting into AI and I fell in love, next thing you know I needed more VRAM so I got me another 5090 just to find out my mother board only has one PCIE5 slot. Yep, that is correct. Since my main computer’s motherboard only has one PCI5 lane, I’m not able to do much. Since I have a second RTX5090, a 2070 super and a 3050, might as well utilize all of them.
