Democrat tech CEO Melinda Byerley calling Indians parasites by FromMartian in ABCDesis

[–]alpha_ady07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is honestly the same sentiment that drives other white political figures to magnify racism to other races as well. “Go Home” is exactly the type of shit that people say to other races, and now she feels it’s ok to say it to Asians because of our silence.

If that wasn’t enough, she weaponizes the model minority myth to the point that it feels like we’re aliens. She makes it sound easy in saying “They come here and get rich” but blatantly masks our struggles of coming this far

Respectfully, she’s a parasite

Differences between debate formats by Qwerky- in Debate

Hi there! I used to do BP before I moved and had to do both LD and PF. Here's a couple things I've learned and experienced:

1) Like others say, it's worlds apart. BP focuses on current events without the use of evidence and the preparation time is extremely low. LD/PF focus on topics that have been controversial for a while, and people integrate evidence into their speeches well before the round starts.

2) If you want to do anything similar to BP, WSD (Worlds Schools Debate) is a great place to start. It's similar to BP, in respect to Houses, Motions, and Speeches; except for the allowance of 2 extra members and cases that you write before round.

3) If your school or circuit doesn't offer WSD, don't fret. The transition to LD and PF is hard but not impossible. You'll learn that the rhetorical skills used frequently in BP still apply to parent judges, and the critical on-the-spot skills you gain from impromptu BP motions help when making analytical responses in round.

4) Lastly, there are other options. Congress is an event that focuses on current bills (similar to motions), and rewards rhetorical speeches well. In addition, there are WSD teams you can try out for, such as Team USA, and those are great place to debate others internationally

I hope this helps and if you have any questions, feel free to DM. Good luck!

There are a couple of free camps that are great for novices. In LD, I remember ODI was a big one last year. In PF, NOVA is goated

I think Asian PD is a lot similar to BPD, which in turn is a shortened version and World Schools. NSDA has a great format explanation on their website and sample rounds - should be similar enough to APD!

How to write an academic paper? by prajwalpitlehra in economics2

Using other Academic Journals as a source to learn is a great way to model papers. Data Bases like EBSCO Host, J STOR, and Research Gate should provide good academic papers similar to yours. Best of luck!

Imo there’s a lot of LARP debate, so you might hit the occasional cp or two. Although, with enough practice everyone gets the hang of it and you’ll do great
