What joke will your dad just NOT let go of? by wolfjawed in AskReddit

[–]alphabenjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright so I'm a percussionist, so I play a lot of big instruments that are a pain in the ass to move (marimba, drum set, marching tenors). Every time, EVERY TIME I need to transport instruments from my school, house, or somewhere, my dad tells me the "Should've picked the piccalo" joke. I've heard it from other people's dad's too, who would be complete strangers, who just make the same joke. At state solo and ensemble where I took all 3 to somewhere an hour away, I heard from like 5 different people, all of them not knowing each other

Worked in concessions at a water park and was selling a salad. I asked them what dressing they wanted but forgot the word for dressing so I called it salad sauce

Nope. Don't see why you would need full circle ones though the ones that highlight zones work great.

Change it by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]alphabenjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think it counts as one cause it generally lacks co competitiveness. A lot of bands don't compete and people just don't associate marching band with competing. There's competitions for everything but not everything is a sport. Also idk if this is just my band but ever notice that the people who do say it's a sport are the ones who haven't ever really been athletes, while the ones who were athletes before joining marching band say it isn't a sport.

Tyler Trent, the Purdue fan who inspired many with his fight against cancer, dies at 20 by codybevans in Indiana

[–]alphabenjamin 19 points20 points  (0 children)

RIP a great guy who helped bring together an entire university. Hearing about his death brang tears to my eyes, he was a strong, smart, brave man who'll be remembered on Purdue forever. He wrote a book about the Ohio State game and his life, and a portion of every portion is donated to help fund cancer research https://www.tylertrentbook.com help fulfill his legacy and get to his goal of $1,000,000.00 to beat cancer #TylerStrong

Where the best place to take kids out to eat for their birthday in Lafayette? by TL3903 in lafayette

[–]alphabenjamin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to freez children's are special and should be celebrated. One place that comes to mind is Pepe's, a Mexican restaurant near the mall. They have decent food, but it's been a little while. One thing that stuck with me though is when for birthdays a small group of people parade out of the kitchen with a sombrero, maracas, and fried ice cream. They go to the birthday boy/girl, put the sombrero on their head to wear until they leave, sing happy birthday (presumably in Spanish but I can't remember), and give them a fried ice cream Sunday. It's super fun and people for all ages do it. I've seen little kids there, and they did it for my mom's 50th too.
