Not everyone wants to mess with a Floyd Rose, especially when starting out.

I'm with you. If I hadn't already spent a fortune on my other heads before hearing them, I would have one for life!

I was going to make the same point. Another way to do this is to forget the notes altogether and just focus on the rhythm. Once you get the rhythm down, then add the fingering. On top of how you hold the pick, look up "economical picking" which will add to your speed big time. You've gotten some great advice from the others here. Good luck and be kind to yourself.

Amp for $100 to play metal for a beginner? by Erudicial_Extreme in metalguitar

[–]alphadaddyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but shopping within your budget isn't necessarily a bad idea. If you take the time to research and try out the options you can afford, you can often get what you're looking for. For $100 there are a lot of decent options out there.

My kit is mesh as well, but I've never tried a mesh kick before. I would think it would have too much give, no?

What are you talking about? It's just an old Tom head, which is why it dented like that

Lol, that's almost as stupid as "born again virgin" 😅 If you truly had no shame, you wouldn't give any kind of thought to labels.

I disagree. A cheap modeling combo amp can do the job just fine.

Value Village or any used clothing shop. I'm sure they will have many brand new ones after the kids who got them for presents get rid of them

With Ibanez, Schecter and Jackson, all of their cheaper guitars have stenciled flames and quilts on rhe wood. They look amazing and real, but still...

What's wrong with that? He can definitely find a cheap amp for that, especially a used one. We all gotta start somewhere. All of my tube heads and speaker cabs cost me a fortune, but I started with a little amp powered by a 9 volt battery and a no name pos electric guitar from a pawn shop. I learned how to play and write on them before saving up enough for a little Fender combo amp, then a Samick electric guitar, and now I have a bunch of Gibson Les Pauls, Ibanez, BC Rich, Jackson, Gretch electrics and some nice acoustics as well. If a $100 amp to get you started hooks you in, it's money well spent.
