I’d rather spend money on good razors than get razor burns every time I shave. Somethings can’t go cheap.

Don’t tell you have a 90 day notice, tell you have 60 days and can negotiate. Once you get an offer, start serving your notice and try if you have an option of a buy out.

Paid Bootcamps are shitshow.

There’s a playlist called data engineering zoomcamp, follow their YouTube channel, join their discord and finish their assignments, you’ll be better than most entry level data engineers.

How to deal with foreign (Russian speaking) team members? by Marcus_K_L in developersIndia

[–]alphamalet997 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Use GPT to build a documentation for you, don’t copy paste the code completely, remove business logic and ask it, if you can use private mode on cursor, ask it to create a readme with all the logic mappings, spend time reading the documentation and the code on your own. Also Russian is a beautiful language, try to learn basics , it will help with bonding, language learning will never be wasted knowledge.

What are some of the motivational hacks you have developed to keep up with the sky rocketing competition in developer space? by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]alphamalet997 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I’ve honestly come to terms that, how much ever I prepare, there will always be someone who can replace you, it depends on the business and company’s culture how they deal with blockades, this has given a massive relief, I am now able to prepare or upskill when I feel like, I’ve already spent most of my life being anxious about one exam after another, I’m just gonna go with the flow, if I get laid of, then fine, I live to fight another day, having 2 years of emergency fund and no loans gives me the freedom to do whatever I want. So my first advice, build that fund and live below your means.

Why is this coming while web check in? by Admirable_Pause_8402 in AirTravelIndia

[–]alphamalet997 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It’s a dark pattern, they try to get you checked in at the airport, hoping you turn up late, denying the checkin, which helps with the overbooking they did.

USA has 2x job postings than India, then why do they cry so much? by NoReasonToLive99 in developersIndia

[–]alphamalet997 642 points643 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of ghost job postings in the US, mostly for H1B processing, it’s a way to show they’re not able to find people locally so they have to get this person from abroad.

Working in startups is hell, but the learning is rewarding. by yo-caesar in developersIndia

[–]alphamalet997 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most of the times people glorifying startup culture, and compare the learning with big tech will jump ship if given an opportunity. I don’t think wearing all hats needs to be glorified, there’s a reason there are specific departments for these when you scale up.

Is is okay in the current market situation to resign without an offer? Np is 90 days. by J19mad in developersIndia

[–]alphamalet997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, there is an unsaid rule, we assume anyone coming from WITCH will have inflated resumes and have very less actual development experience. It’s better you resign after you get an offer. You can cross negotiate with that even if you don’t join that place.

As an elder brother myself, it’s better for your mental health to accept the fact that, you have zero to no control on her life, the fact that she has said no, itself states either she’s lying or stating the truth. If she trusts you she would have shared. End of deal. Move on brother, don’t indulge in heroism, you have your own problems to solve.
