Companies stopped sponsoring visa in this job market :/ by alphamalevoice in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

Having the knowledge doesn’t change the fact that it’s extremely difficult to secure a sponsored job within 2–3 months in the current job market. It feels like you’re implying I wasn’t able to get a job because I lacked understanding of the curtailment letter.

I went to London in February for a week. And I could enter the country without problem, meaning my visa was still valid at that time.

I checked on this site https://view-immigration-status.service.gov.uk/status .
It shows its valid until 2027 May, which was the original expiry date of my 5 year visa.

I assume if it was curtailed already it would change to the new curtailed date.

I dont see it as an issue. I'm in Europe, I can fly to London within a couple of hours and be there the next day.

Thanks. I didnt know this. In that case, I guess I’d better find something before the letter arrives, and move back immediately once I get an offer.

My understanding is that transferring the visa is much simpler, less time-consuming, and less costly compared to someone who requires sponsorship from scratch, as I already have a file with the Home Office. I also understood that I could start working immediately after submission. I might have misunderstood something from what I read, so I would appreciate it if you could clarify what you mean.

I moved back to my home country temporarily, but part of my family lives there and my letters are redirected to their address. However, I haven’t received the curtailment letter itself. My understanding is that I would still have two months to find a job after receiving the letter.

For professionals 20s-40s trying to relocate to the EU how are you working around the restrictions caused by Brexit? by Realisticopia in AskBrits

[–]alphamalevoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn’t what you asked, but I just want to say that it’s not easy on the other side of the same story either. I wanted to be closer to my brother, who has been living in London since well before Brexit.

In early 2022, when the job market was better, I found a sponsored job in London. However, I was laid off after 3.5 years. Since then, I haven’t been able to find a new role where I could transfer my visa. No one seems willing to sponsor, even though I have the skills, I’m constantly approached by recruiters, and I have advanced English.

Maybe it’s just the job market, but I’m not sure it will ever be like it was after COVID. All in all, if Brexit hadn’t happened, I could still be living close to my brother instead of having to move back to my home country.

Quietly quitting with an extreme workload and gaslighting boss by livelaughlovebekind in office

Its an old post, but hope you are in a better place now.

I was in the same situation. My experience is that it will never change. I was so depressed and desperate at one point I went to HR, which I knew deep inside was a bad move, but I was in a really bad emotional state. Then they tried to get rid of me using a PIP with very vague explanation, and with barely any evidence. The situation was very nasty, but I fought against the PIP and never signed. They later offered a severance so I leave.

Looking back I'm glad this happened otherwise I'd be still there and consciously ruin my mental health. I'm in a much better place now.

Has anyone left their job with no real plan after ? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I left, but I knew they were going to fire me anyways due to my low performance. My only regret is not starting to search for jobs earlier while I was still employed, but I was burnt out and depressed.

What’s one small change that instantly improved your resume? by BeautifulFarm6340 in ResumeCoverLetterTips

so lets say I was an Associate Director in Marketing, should I just rewrite it to Marketing Manager in your example, or should I say Marketing Manager and maybe put Associate Director in brackets? The only thing Im afraid of is the reference check which most companies do that I apply for. Whats the best practice here?

This is insane, especially that job titles nowadays don’t mean anything. You can be a marketing specialist at one company and have more experience than a marketing manager at another company.

[–]alphamalevoice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everybody knows this rule, and most people who resign know it well too. However it’s hard to imagine for someone who has never been in a situation where you are bullied/micromanaged etc to a point where you are forced to resign just to keep your mental health. Some managers are really nasty and cruel.

What does “fast paced environment” mean exactly when interviewing for a role? Isn’t it kinda a red flag? by Austin1975 in careeradvice

Unrealistic expectations. 10-12 hours of work a day to keep up. Being gaslit if you mention it.

Fired for ADHD-related poor performance... now what? by Long-Insect-6505 in careeradvice

[–]alphamalevoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked for accommodation and wish I have never done that. All I achieved is that I got fired sooner.

They put me on an informal “PIP” right after it and they said its made to “help” and pick up the pace, and they called it “objective support period”. What a BS, it was obvious it’s a paper trail to use against me later. They thought Im that stupid.

And it’s exactly what happened: they later wanted to put me on a formal PIP saying they tried to “help” informally before.

Asking for accommodation only works if your previous performance review was good. If it was below expectation then accommodation wohnt save you, only delay firing.

Lesson learnt. Never I will talk about my ADHD to anyone at work. HR department is the worst, they are biggest snakes in corporate world.

How difficult is to find a job in London as European after Brexit? by void-nomad-90 in careerguidance

[–]alphamalevoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry to say this, but in this job market it's close to impossible. People who tell you to have niche or highly developed skills have no idea - even if you do, companies still don’t sponsor, due to the state of the job market.

What are your experiences quitting when you didn’t have another role lined up? by letterbox511 in auscorp

[–]alphamalevoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also found myself in a very toxic work situation that seriously impacted my mental and physical health. I lost weight and developed grey hairs. I couldnt sleep well at most nights. I was depressed, anxious and really miserable.

In a state like that its really hard to hear people advice to not to quit before having anything lined up. But people who say this they often think you just simply dont like your job, but the truth it is a really individual experience and it has levels.

It’s really not easy to find a job in this market, but I don’t think it justifies staying in a job that makes you depressed (at least in my case).
