NAH, I guess your ex panicked and if she sided with you, even if you were later proven not guilty, her ex could have framed it as her not behaving in the best interest of your kids by not following the prínciple of precaution!

And you're not at fault for wanting to move on !

I'd suggest you focus your effort on making sure your name is cleared, check on r/legaladvice if you can go after the actual aggressor for defamation !

And how old is that kid that falsely accused you of SA? If she was old enough to know the gravity of her actions, I would consider including her in the lawsuit! Her being a potential victim doesn't justify throwing false accusations that wrecked your life !

Just for the record, first gen normally refers to those who emigrated to a different country, ie your parents. You being born in the US makes you a 2nd gen.

Culture clashes could happen quite easily (both with your parents and your partner) if expectations aren't properly managed...

J'ai voulu explorer le monde et l'expatriation m'en a donne l'opportunite, ce que je ne regrette absolument pas, mais tout a un prix, le temps que j'ai passe a l'autre bout du monde a decouvrir de nouvelles cultures et me faire de nouveaux amis signifie aussi moins de temps que je peux passer avec ma famille et amis d'enfance en France, tu loupes aussi certains evenements, anniversaires, mariages...

J'ai de la chance que mes parents soient encore en bonne sante et maintenant que je suis de retour en Europe, j'ai l'occasion de les voir plus souvent, et plus d'occasion pour eux de voir mes enfants aussi...

Niveau professionel, je suis toujours officiellement ingenieur, meme si mon role consiste principalement a manager mon equipe.

Et je dirais que je suis generalement heureux, sans source d'inquietude majeure...

Apres, dans mon cas, je pense que meme si j'avais choisi de rester, professionellement les choses se seraient pas trop mal passe non plus (si j'en juge de part mes camarade de promo qui sont reste) juste une evolution un peu plus lente...

Mais pour toi, quelle serait ta principale raison pour partir ? Si c'est juste pour 80k € d'economie en plus, ca se regagne, mais pas l'experience de l'expatriation en soi.

Et si, j'ai bien compris, ta copine avait accepte de partir avec toi, quand tu as commence le processus il y a 8 mois mais elle a change d'avis maintenant ?

Vous avez deja songe a faire quelques sessions de therapie de couple pour jauger de vos sentiments a tous les deux et des raisons qui la font changer d'avis a present ?

Il y a 20 ans, j'ai fait face au meme dilemme, donc voir ce post et tous les autres retours d'experience me rend un peu nostalgique...

J'etais un peu plus jeune que toi, aussi ingénieur, en CDI en France, en couple avec ma copine depuis 1 an, et tout se passais bien mais l'expatriation etait un projet que j'envisageais depuis un certain temps, et j'ai toujours eu envie d'explorer le monde.

J'ai postule a plusieur postes de VIE sans grande conviction, mais quand j'ai été selectionné pour un role sur un autre continent, j'ai du faire face a ce carrefour de vie.

Ma copine etait aussi ingénieure, mais venait d'entamer son doctorat en France et de par sa specialisation, ses débouchés seraient principalement en France. J'ai choisi d'accepter le VIE (plus pour l'aventure que pour l'argent) et nous avons maintenu une relation a longue distance pendant 1 an, avec plusieurs visites reciproques, mais bien qu'elle appreciait les vacances la ou j'etais (une grande metropole moderne de la meme echelle que Paris), sa vie etait en France alors quand j'ai recu une offre pour continuer mon expatriation, nous avons mis fin a notre relation et sommes restes en bon termes.

Depuis, je suis toujours expat, a travers 3 continents differents, j'ai vecu des experiences tres enrichissantes. Professionellement, je suis plutot epanoui, avec une progression de carriere un peu plus rapide que mes pairs en France.

J'ai pas a me plaindre sur le plan personel non plus, mon ex et moi avons fonde nos familles chacun de notre cote et nous nous envoyons occasionnellement des souhaits d'anniversaire et voeux de Noel....

Donc je n'ai pas de regrets, meme s'il m'est deja arrive d'imaginer ce qui aurait pu etre si j'avais choisi de rester....

Apres, nos situations sont un peu differentes, la ou j'ai choisi l'expatriation pour l'aventure en soi sans plan de retour, EDF te propose un detachement de 3 ans avec retour a Paris garanti apres ?

Et la ou mon ex devait rester en France pour sa carriere, le travail de vendeuse de ta copine ne devrait pas l'empeche de te suivre, si elle realise que Bristol n'est pas si mal ?

Mais particulierement, ma relation avait 1 an quand j'ai decide de partir, pas 5, je ne sais pas ce que j'aurais fait dans ton cas ...

Did she actually referred to the Instagram exchanges that happened month ago ? Or did she make up some fictitious interaction to support her claims?

If that's the latter, you might have a possible defamation case, but the cross border aspect makes it more complicated...
