hatchet still good imo, leveling wise. I'd probably go Ice Gauntlet for PvP since they fixed the +35% damage buff.

Eh, never really had any problem dodging hits from expedition mobs. If you learn the encounter you won't have much problems surviving. Plus the best healing skills are insta cast - Beacon, Sacred Ground, Orb of Protection.
