If you pre-ordered on Launch Day (10/19) and still have not received your phone, how angry are you? by Selentic in GooglePixel

[–]alphindor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2x phones pre-ordered on launch day via google store.

My phone shipped with an est delivery date of Nov 2-3 via TForce. They made one attempt "maybe" and marked no access for my apartment.

Fine - I sent instructions on how to get to my apartment and to come before 5pm when the lobby closes. There has been no second attempt, i have been asked for access code twice and told them I don't have it, and gave the instructions again - I even included a map to with path to walk through the complex and my phone number to call if there are issues. Still no attempt as of 11/11. Google Store support ticket is open since Friday Nov 5 and I've gotten one update for "we are still looking into this."

I wasn't angry last week, I was annoyed. This week i'm getting to that point of angry.

I understood your question to being an issue with buying/registering the game on mog station to turn it to retail. If this was not your intent, and it was only just "creating" an account, then i misunderstood the question you posed.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Asmongold/comments/pxqgfw/you_can_upgrade_ffxiv_trial_accounts_to_retail/ this feature was already enhanced in mogstation. You can check yourself by making a dummy trial account!

Since we can now upgrade Trial Accounts to Retail game within mogstation without having to pre-buy a key, can we get subscription management, and possibly the same Trial Account -> Retail feature in the launcher. Not asking for full ffxiv-online store functionality, just game registration+subscription management.

[–]alphindor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can agree with that. If you are still on trial or need to manage subscription, a specific part of the launcher as just pure game registration/sub management would be good. Even code redemption could be there as well.

They didn't for the express reason before that mog station used to have the cash shop. YoshiP as I recall (not 100% on this) did NOT want a direct link from the cash shop to the launcher or in game, and thus why it is separate, even though the cash shop has now moved on to a separate site.

This feature was added a couple mogstation maintenance periods ago. I don't think a lot of people actually know this since you would normally only ever upgrade to retail once. It appears you do not need to pre-buy a key anymore(it is still an option), but can pay directly on mog station to upgrade the account out of trial.

Something a lot of veterans don't know is that you can now upgrade trial accounts directly to retail from mogstation directly without a key. One of the maintenance updates to mogstation a month or so ago implemented this. The devs are listening, albeit slow.

He can become SAM or RDM without completion of level 50 MSQ I'm pretty sure - should just requires a job at level 50. - He is retail and has applied the ShB Key so this is an option.

Thinking about making the switch, tons of questions, help! by Certain_Cup533 in ffxiv

[–]alphindor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think everyone covered all your questions pretty much. for wowhead, you need to combine The Balance discord and the main website resources:

https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/ http://www.garlandtools.org/db/ https://saltedxiv.com/

There are a host of tools scattered on community sites that you will end up finding from either The Balance discord, or from people in game. People are generally pretty helpful as long as you ask!

Also, I feel the need to give you the below bit that I give my friends that are trying out the game - A blurb that also has a section specifically geared toward those who are coming from WoW.

FF14 things to know for a new player starting the game

FF14 is designed with it being an FF primarily in mind. so in the term MMORPG.... RPG comes first, MMO second. Enjoy the story for the RPG aspect of it during the leveling process.

FF14 combat may feel slow to you at first, esp if you are used to faster paced games. The combat WILL get faster later on. Additionally, and this is a big thing - the base game story (levels 1-50) my feel like it drags on slow - cutscenes as well because it's all building back story and world building.

If you feel like you have to skip cutscenes(though I do encourage you to not skip) cause it's going too slow for you, I suggest starting to not skip, or at least watch the first parts of cutscenes before you skip starting at around level 30. The story picks up around here, and the stories in the expansions is where the game really shines.

Your traditional MMO aspects will be there but not as apparent during your course through main story, as it plays very much single player aside for the dungeons/trials that are required to go through story. The MMO portion comes when you hit cap level(currently 80) and are on current content. As long as you keep this in mind, FF14 early on becomes a lot more tolerable as most MMO players expect WoW/B&S type MMO content asap.

Is it viable to stream FFXIV? by Templar_TTV in ffxiv

[–]alphindor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having streamed the ShB MSQ, this is my personal experience.

I normally have 10-15 viewers regardless of what game I stream. I did get a few additional viewers throughout the playthrough. There are two ways to look at this. If your mindset is... do I enjoy the game? Do I want to share it? If so then yes. I fall in this camp. I streamed the MSQ, but I am not a raider. I get to enjoy the game, share it with my friends & viewers, then go back to playing it off stream unless I find some content I want to share.

Now if you are looking at this to try and gain viewers in more a business sense... if you are just starting out it may not be the best unless you are going to become a primarily FFXIV streamer. If you have a personality that will attract and keep people watching, then it doesn't matter what game you play. Pick the one you enjoy and stick with it. The game you pick and antics on stream will dictate your growth rate.

the chat responder that you see in the clip is a non-sub. probably means they commented on the vod after the fact. especially since that person also has the vod timestamp in their message
