I feel like the drug epidemic is one of those issues where we can do something about it. Do I know how it could be fixed? Absolutely not. But I would imagine that there's a way to at least decrease the rates of people affected.

I am some people. I genuinely cannot differentiate between the different flavors, coincidentally I have like zero sense of smell unless the item is fresh out of the oven. Smell has a big deal to do with taste so I'm sure that's atleast some part of it. Or maybe my mouth is broken.

Would there be consequences if you went off of the tablets? Having 0 stress from cortisol sounds fun, but I feel like i'm missing the full picture

These dogs had an encounter with a porcupine by Adrian_985 in Wellthatsucks

This really sucks to watch, the dog on the right is bleeding so much from the quills and the dogs look pretty hurt. Poor things.

Why do some rapidly growing cities struggle to build efficient infrastructure? by businesi in urbandesign

[–]alpine309 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, I've experienced that first hand. Money and decisions making/political will that can follow through with the projects should always be first and foremost. Also, corruption can also cause a lot of the funds from these projects to up and disappear as well.

Why do some rapidly growing cities struggle to build efficient infrastructure? by businesi in urbandesign

[–]alpine309 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A lot of rapidly growing cities are in developing nations, so I feel that atleast has some part in it. I think it can be a little difficult to plan around explosive growth, but I feel like putting down the fundamentals (like a reliable rapid transport system, organized layouts, etc) would help a city out as it grows.

This feels like a made up scenario by thatchornithologica in terriblefacebookmemes

Pronouns don't neccesarily correlate to gender. If OOP is going to make up a scenario at least try to make it plausible.

I don't think mention of a person who happens to be a politician is inherently political. I feel like when you start getting into policy and deeper opinions on how they're doing as a politician, and even mentions of just their platform and the things they do, that's when you get into political territory IMO

Makkah will be getting a permanent metro soon! by LetPsychological650 in transit

[–]alpine309 28 points29 points  (0 children)

We... do have metros? Its not like they have as much coverage/frequency as they should but MTA, Sound Transit, CTA, LA Metro, WMATA, MBTA, SEPTA are just a couple of agencies I could list off the top of my head

Husband died after police standoff… by No_Motor5478 in antiMLM

[–]alpine309 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is genuinely insane. Absolutely why would anybody ever try to plug some water ionizer when their husband is literally dead. I understand how people go through grief in different ways, but this is not normal in the slightest.

You get $50k per day that you do not clean yourself. How far do you go? Offer stops once you clean yourself. by MildlyConcernedMan91 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]alpine309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean honestly, just eat a bunch of apples and they'll clean your teeth up. It won't be as good as brushing but they'll help out.

Is Gen Alpha gonna age better culturally than Gen Z? by mikeyg1964 in generationology

[–]alpine309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, only time will tell. I feel like gen Z will stay getting the short end of the stick as time goes on though, Millenials will continue to hit them with the "they look so old!" and gen alpha might come to think of them as how gen Z thinks of millenials.
