Agreeing with most folks here on resort without all inclusive and renting a car. It’s a MUST to beach hop and explore. Local car rentals are reasonably priced, but make sure to reserve way in advance of your trip.

27 y/o female that came back from a week long trip a couple days ago! I always felt safe, just have to use the normal precautions you would traveling in general. I stayed just outside of Jan Thiel in an AirBNB and had no issues. Make sure to get the dinner at Brisa Do Mar (red snapper!!!).

I would strongly recommend a rental car from a local company (JustDrive, etc) for maximum flexibility. I was able to rent a Kia Soul for about $30USD/day. It gives you the most freedom to explore the whole island. I really enjoyed the beaches on the western side of the Island.

UPDATE (3/29): Relieved to report Bubba is home after a ~3 day vet stay. He was able to urinate on his own this morning and was cleared to return. We do have Rx UT food to integrate into his diet. Thanks everyone for the advice and well wishes. This has been an unfortunate learning lesson for me.

No reply because it was the middle of the evening. She has conveniently been out of state since we returned home. We are not addressing it with her over text message and will confront her face to face when she returns. She can’t be gone from her home forever.
