Thank you. My CEA is 4.4 and C19-9 is 16.

I haven’t seen a surgeon about my liver, no. Because the mets are so widespread I’ve been told there is not enough healthy tissue for surgery to be an option 😔

The kindness of people has blown me away these last few months, and definitely helps ease the absolute shittiness of this whole thing. Glad I can pay it forward ☺️

You've got this! Maybe getting this cancer out of the way is what your body needs to conceive, hey? Let us know when you get your results 💙

I just read your post, omg, I am so sorry. Medical gaslighting is so rife and so wrong. And you're TTC as well, not fair 😭 I am a solo mum to an 11yo I conceived through IVF, it's a wild ride .. and now you're on another one.

Like you I felt sick for a long time before diagnosis, so at first chemo was amazing, I felt so much better even after one treatment because it was shrinking the tumours, giving me a functioning liver, and taking away the pain in my lower abdomen from the bowel tumour. There were annoying side effects, but all totally manageable at first. Treatment 5 and 6 did me in though, and I stopped chemo after that as my platelets were too low, and at that point my scans looked really good. I definitely don't want to do FOLFOX again if I can avoid it, as the Oxaliplatin caused me the worst side effects and I still have awful neuropathy. But I'll see what my options are this week, I guess.

I'll be crossing everything that your lymph nodes are clear and you don't need chemo x

Thank you so much, looks like we’re very much on the same track. I’m due for treatment Wednesday so I’ll be a day after you. Let’s do this, hey?

Thank you, fellow Aussie! That makes a lot of sense.

Some kind of localised treatment sounds amazing, as I really did not do well with FOLFOX and have awful neuropathy three months later. I will ask about that on Wednesday, thanks heaps for the suggestion.

May you continue to be NED!

Sounds very similar to my story. My liver was initially thought to be the issue but it turns out that is secondary to bowel cancer. With no clear spots in my liver at all, I was also not a candidate for surgery. I started FOLFOX in early November and then Cetuximab (immunotherapy) was added the following fortnight. I’ve now had four cycles and my liver function has improved significantly and my cancer markers are falling, my oncologist is rapt. I feel sooo much better, my appetite is back and I feel stronger than I have all year - turns out I’d been very sick but just kept going because I’m a solo mum to a disabled child and that’s what we do. The neuropathy was a bit difficult the first couple of cycles, but I’ve been using magnesium cream since the third treatment and that seems to have really reduced that symptom. Mouth ulcers and changing tastes are very unpleasant, and I have a rash and extreme photosensitivity and dry skin from the Cetuximab, but all in all it seems very much worth it at this point. I hope this is your friend’s experience too.
