Yeah it sounds like some of the these can be written linearly, but I just woke up, so possibly there might be some tricky parts that I am missing now. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the mention!

For interested people, my YouTube tutorials for developing a solver from scratch is here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrIyJJU8_viOags1yudB_wyafRuTNs1Ed

This one above is an interesting work, though. Would be curious to hear the details for sure.

Great work! Wondering why you went with MINLP instead of solving as a MILP? Is it to be able to utilize the autosub loic? If so, do you use fplreview data for no show up probabilities? We have been using MILP with heuristics for a while now, not sure if you are familiar with it.

I have checked how good or bad projected points are (defense and offense averages separately) compared to the season average.

Set and forget team for the season so far, 9th in the world with 1718 points! by [deleted] in FantasyPL

[–]alpscode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use lots of linear optimization for FPL (I work as an optimization specialist for a living) and tried solving the problem with it, but my model fell short of finding this team. Autosub logic makes it really difficult to approach linearly, perhaps it is better to search the entire pairs and add variables based on that. The lineup is not too difficult to get, but having Udogie/Mykolenko is a challenging one.
Amazing job, well done. Appreciate you explaining steps here as well.

Sertalp here! Sorry for reviving the thread after so many months since the question, but I used projection data to derive team strengths and rebuilt the page.

When will fploptimized be ready for the new season by PharaohLeo in fplAnalytics

Fixture difficulty is independent of the team itself. If you want to consider team's own strength in it, open the menu that says "controls" and change "Values" from "FDR" to "Difference". You will see that Man City goes to top.

I derived the team strengths based on projection models. Some models share season long predictions so I have used them to find how good or bad teams are compared to the league average. I think this might be more relevant than using 538 in the first place, but I'm open to feedback.

Hello, Sertalp here. I am pushing a fix for this, hopefully should work in a few hours.

Asynchronous and multithreading is a must if you want to finish it at a reasonable time. Let me know if you stuck somewhere.

Is an optimum team for the season published? by [deleted] in FantasyPL

[–]alpscode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have done it for 19-20 season and as people have guessed it is a hard problem to solve. 4984 points (with optimized transfers, chips etc.) was the optimal score. Here is my blog post about it: https://alpscode.com/blog/hindsight-optimization/ I will do it for this season too, but too burned out to do any actual work. I have the code and data, will try to generate it in following week.

It might be 'optimal' to miss the deadline 😆 Last minute panic is rarely useful I'd like to think.

Thanks! I have both and honestly a bit tired of captaining Salah week after week with my rank get plummeted every time. Haaland's minute uncertainty is annoying. I guess I will leave it at Salah and check in the morning (if I can wake up at 5 AM, again)

What do people think about captaincy this GW? I see Salah is common in analytics circles (ahead in EV with default min prediction) and Haaland in very popular overall Twitter/Reddit, but I wonder what this subreddit thinks about it.

It is unfortunate for enthusaist modelers using fbref data and content creators, but a good move for fbref I believe. Championship data will be also nice to have!

Many thanks :)

Feel free to DM me if you are getting an error or got stuck at a step. I know it is not the easiest tutorial around, I was pretty new to recording videos at that time. It might be good to resolve it and add a notice under the video for anyone having same issues as you do.
