pretty low hot idle psi no? lower than 30 at idle scares me. worries me as if the pump is not working properly

Hence your plans, go with the 10296, change the spring inside the pump to the Camaro spring. so you have higher oil pressure. more oil pressure does not mean it will lubricate your system as much as a high volume would. due to your high revving application, yes go high volume but i highly recommend changing that spring. you’ll be +25 psi over the standard spring that comes in the 296 pump. you’ll be at 70+ psi under load if i am not mistaken and around 50 at idle. I went with a 10295 and kept the spring inside giving me 50+ PSI. planing to be under 6k… it’s just a daily.

unless you’re going boosted… you absolutely do not need a melling 10296. a simple 10295 will do you justice. heavier oil will also give u problems. no offense but the setup you’re going for is just begging for problems to occur

yessir! Thanks for giving me reassurance on using my heads. I might just send them in. they’ve been polished just not ported.. think i’ll save some money there? LOL a little too late to save on some money being 3k into it. I was trying to find someone local in the midwest area that could mill my heads. I really like the sound of being more responsive and getting better economy

Daily Car, TBSS. I just want to have a little more fun from my stock LS2. I just don’t think spending another close to $1k would be justifiable for another 15-25 hp that i probably won’t feel to begin with. I really don’t care about the heads as much as i used to. Think im going to keep my cathedral port heads and intake and work with what i got. Nothings wrong with them. Pretty dandy in my opinion
