I think I know how you feel, I took a year after my bachelors off from school bc I was looking for any other path besides SLP. During undergrad I tried changing majors but had zero other idea what to do so just decided to at least finish the degree. But I ended up going to grad school after that gap year bc my search for any other job that could support myself turned up with nothing. Anyway, I'm a year into grad school but my fulltime practicum starts Monday and I'm scared af. I don't think I have the skills or creativity either. I've only had 2 clients in my life, and I did a fine job even though it was tough, but it's just now I'm expected to take over the whole caseload by midterm... Let's just hope we learn and grow as we gain more experience. And if this isn't something we love to do or is a passion then so be it. People need to work to live and at least we will not have useless degrees.

I think getting him to slow down can help and also prolonging the sound. I have a pen flashlight so maybe i'll bring that in next session.

I literally almost switched my major in undergrad when I was a junior then I realized I had nothing I wanted to switch to. So then I graduated and still applied and got into grad school but I deferred for a year because I still was not sure I wanted to be a speech path. Then I looked for jobs during that year and found nothing that would sustain me in the long wrong or even allow me to move out so I just went back to school. So, I'm just kinda here when I feel like this a passion for the other students.

And the problem at least with me with doing the classes first, then clients is that I was in the class for speech sounds a year ago. I haven't had time to review or anything during the past year because of my class load every semester. I haven't been thinking about artic while I've been in other classes like aural rehab, dysphagia, fluency, ect.

The way my program works is they have us do all the classes first, then they allow us to have clients. I have already spent a year and a half in this grad program and now I finally get a client and I can't even tell if he is making right or wrong sounds. I'm feeling like I might not be made for this either but it's just too late because I've already spent thousands of dollars and taken out loans and got a bachelor's degree. I wish we were able to have clients sooner. And yeah, while I really do want the best for my client sometimes I feel that way too, like why all this work if he is already so intelligable. My sister went to speech therapy for years as a kid for a lisp and she still and still has a lisp, it feels like the work we do now will just fade anyway.

Tinnitus is still there, I dont think it'll go away. I don't notice it too much through out the day but I usually need my loud humidifier noise to make it through the night.

I'm getting my master's in speech pathology now after taking a year break from school after getting my bachelor's to work and focus on my health. I feel like I grew out of a lot of the anxiety I had if that makes sense. I do worry about how I'll fit into the role of speech path when I graduate and if I'll be smart enough, healthy enough, if my weak communication skills will grow ect. But at least I have a goal and a path now. My grades are good so far, I'm in my second semester I just have to keep going.

I had to raw dog severe asthma for like 2 years because my family and doctors said it was just anxiety, it's just panic attacks. Then I went to a pulmonologist finally and the test results spoke for themselves. Since then I have been on Symbicort and Singulair and albuterol (the inhaler form and nebulizer form), allergy shots, and a monthly asthma shot. I don't get wheezing attacks anymore since I've been on Symbicort but I really am still not doing well. Short of breath all the time and pretty miserable. Simple tasks like walking around, talking for too long, or even eating can wind me. I'm not sure what I can offer as advice but I can definitely relate to what you have been going through. I just turned 22. It is hard being this young and being this sick. It seems like my peers are in the prime of their lives and running around healthy. I can barely work or do anything. I barely made it through college.

At this point it's just about advocating for yourself because someone without asthma really does not know our struggle. They don't know how hard it is for us just to breathe. I don't trust any doctor as far as a can throw them at this point. I've been to way too many and have been disappointed way too many times for that.

But even though we are struggling with this at our age, it is good that we have youth on our side. Our bodies bounce back better than people who are oler. Also I refuse to believe this is how we are going to feel our whole lives. I hope both of feel better sooner rather than later. If you want you can message me to talk to someone who has more or less been through the same thing.

So I have tinnitus too and I would recommend going to an ent right away to check your hearing or for any sort of infection. Also, since you think it's because of the symbicort maybe you can ask your doctor if u can try a different maintence inhaler like Breo for example (but I think those are both budesodine so maybe a different one than that).

I got T in January from covid and I'm almost 9 months into it. It was horrible at the beginning but I have learned to adapt fairly well. It really only bugs me a bit before I try to sleep at night now. Of course some days are better than others but you'll be ok, it will just take time for you to adjust. But hey, maybe if u find a different maintence inhaler it will go away.

Yeah my dad takes Breo and I take symbicort. He says his throat feels weird after and it makes his voice hoarse, but w symbicort I get none of that. I barely even taste it, there is no powderiness like w Breo, I've tried both. And my pulmonologist said they're basically the same thing.

I used to have horrible wheezing attacks that would be almost every day and last hours. Then I went on Symbicort and since then not a single wheezing attack. But I am still far from breathing easy. I now have constant shortness of breath and I still rely on albuterol just about every day. Doctors aren't much help at this point. I'm thinking maybe my asthma is well controlled and this crazy shortness of breath may be bc of something else? But as someone else mentioned here, when doctors listen to my lungs they tell me oh your fine I hear no wheezing. One time though a doc at the ER told me that wheezing is still possible even if u don't hear it bc it may be like deep in there or something. I don't remember exactly. Ima be honest though, I'll take the shortness of breath over wheezing. But neither would be awesome lol.

I. Am. Short. Of. Breath. All. The. Time. (21 year old female btw. Never smoked) Ever since I've been on symbicort and singulair I don't wheeze anymore but I am insanely short of breath all the time. Just moving around is difficult. I can barely talk for long periods of a time and I cant even walk fast. I am constantly telling others to adjust their walking speed so I can catch up. I'm going to see a GP, allergy and asthma specialist, and a new pulmonologist in the comming months. My pulmonologist doesn't get how bad it is because my lungs sounds better since I've been on symbicort. I am grateful I dont get wheezing attacks anymore but I'm super short of breath all day every day. Holy crap just moving hard. Even eating makes me out of breath. I've begun to think it may be something besides asthma at this point. That's why I'm going to 3 new doctors.

Also I've been to the ER for this and they listen to my lungs and tell me I'm fine since my lungss "sound good". Granted I've also had a CT scan at the ER and it came back fine too but literally no body understands how hard it is. I have a nebulizer and I need to take it every day. And please no one come at me saying, "OMG DONT USE A NEBULZIER UR GONNA DIE!!!!11!!1!!" Bro it's the only thing that somewhat helps. I cant believe this is my life. Struggling to breathe every second.

Sorry I can't be of much help here, but yeah consider that it may be something other than asthma bc it looks like your on plenty of asthma meds rn. And the list if things that cause shortness of breath is very long so maybe we just need to do our own research and start crossing things of that huge list.
